Opening of School:
Many students have asked about when our clubs will begin at Sequoia. Unfortunately due to the lack of a signed teacher contract with the district our teachers have decided not to host clubs until the contract is ratified. While our staff knows this is disappointing news, I have been assured that as soon as the contract is ratified, clubs will return to Sequoia. Homework Club, CJSF and Robotics Club will continue to operate as teachers are paid to host those clubs/groups.
Magnets: The Blue/Silver Calendar magnets will be passed out to students on Tuesday, September 10th in 8th period classes.

Attention families: Our Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough Fundraiser is finishing up this Friday.
Money raised is important to all of our students & helps fund field trips, class supplies, library days, school wide technology & more!
New option this year: online ordering at register.schoolshopping.org – use our school’s code of 3428. Please help make this a successful fundraiser, there are loads of great incentives for students to shoot for. All money & order forms must be turned in by September 13th.
Make sure you put your child’s 6th period teacher on the order form! Sell to your friends, family, coworkers & neighbors. Collect the money and turn it in with your order form on the 13th - items will be delivered frozen so there is one pick-up day only: October 16th

Attention, parents! We have our 1st after-school Social in on Friday, September 13th from 3-4 pm in the MU! It’s our annual End-Of-Summer Luau! Not only will there be free food & beverages, but there will be music, games, and lots of fun to be had! So be sure your child picks up a permission slip in the office! The social is free admission with an ASB Card, but if your child doesn’t have one, you can purchase an ASB card in the office for $10! The ASB Card gets your child into all of the events for the entire year! All permission slips are due in the office by Monday, September 9th! (Permission Slips Attached)
Preliminary rosters have been posted for the A team and half of the B team on the B side of the office.
Our First Game is Monday at home vs. Foothill Middle
B Team plays at 3:30, A team will have an intra-squad scrimmage at 4:30 (Foothill doesn't have a team)

Cheer Season: September to May
- Projected performances: HOME GAMES, televised welcoming Santa Claus in downtown Concord, Walnut Creek Holiday Parade, Girl’s Talk Holiday Performance, Showcase/recital, MDUSD/CARES Cheer Competition – all dates are subject to change.
- Cost: A donation of: $20 a month – this covers uniform rental (uniform, bow and poms), entry fees, music, costumes
- Respect is of the upmost importance: To your teammates, coaches, opposing teams, teachers, parents (even yours) and administration.
- All practices are on Mondays, right after school 3-4 PM. Most games are on Mondays as well. We ask that you make any appointments on any day but Monday. If your child misses a practice, it is their responsibility to learn the material prior to the next practice

CJSF (CALIFORNIA JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION) is a statewide organization to foster high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship. this club is open to 8th graders only in the fall semester and to both 7th and 8th graders in the spring semester. Meetings will be on Thursday after school, starting August 29th in D-6 from 2:45 - 3:30. Applications are available in the B side of the office from Ms. Montoya, Ms. Horne and Mrs. Kirshen. Completed applications need 4th Quarter report card from 7th grade. Turn into Ms. Montoya in D-6, report cards will be returned to students at the meeting. If a student lost their report card they need to see Ms. Montoya and give her a note in writing stating what they need. August 29th is the deadline for applying for CJSF. If a student qualifies, they should apply. Meeting attendance is not mandatory but strongly encouraged.
We ask for all families to work one day of Parent Patrol per student per year. We have found that these extra parent eyes on campus help keep our students safe. Click here to sign up if you haven't done so already. Parents are more than welcome to do extra days as well.
