Cougar Connection- October 2023
WE'RE PLANNING A "SPOOKTACULAR" MONTH HERE IN COUGAR COUNTRY
ANNUAL MONSTEROUS MATH NIGHT OCTOBER 25TH 5:30- 6:30 PM
Please plan on joining us for a really fun night where the students play and learn math games that strengthen and build number sense and math fact fluency. Everyone is welcome to dress in costumes (school appropriate), play along, and win candy prizes.
- Candy donations are greatly appreciated and can be brought to the school office anytime.
It was good to see all the families together. The kids really enjoyed the scavenger hunt, showing their parents the classrooms, and specials areas. Congratulations to Jack Rieger and Jaxson Smith for winning the gift baskets. The community volunteer tables were very helpful and informative. If you missed Open House, we would love to see you next time. Please keep your eyes out... there is a lot happening at Smoketree this month!

A NOTE FROM THE LIBRARIAN
I would like to THANK YOU for your continued support of our Book Fair. I am always excited to get new books for our library. Have you heard about the Millionaires Club? For every Accelerated Reader (AR) book your child reads and passes the test the AR program keeps a word count. When the student reaches a million words they're in the club! This year I'm excited to add the 1/2 million club! And let's not forget about the kinders, we will have a Tricky Word Club. Once they master 100% of the Tricky Words, they too are in the club. The cut-off date for these clubs is May 3rd. At the end of the school year, we celebrate with lunch, cake, gift bags, and goodies. I'll be keeping you informed throughout the school year.
HAPPY READING! Mrs. Thomas
SMOKETREE PTSO UPDATES
We just wrapped up our Read-a-thon fundraiser. Thank you to those who participated. Be looking for the ZAG fundraiser to be starting October 16th, 2023. When we return from fall break.
The next PTSO meeting will be held on November 13th at 5:30pm. All are welcome. See you there.
CUBHOUSE CORNER (Smoketree Preschool)
This month our cubs will be busy learning about the 4 seasons and weather patterns. Some of the fun ways our teachers guide the students in learning about different subjects is by having themed sensory bins, doing science experiments, story time, and artwork.
Thanks to the staff for making learning fun!
