We Need Your Help!

- I want Oakland Elementary to be one of the best schools in VA.

- I want my child to have a great school year to learn and have fun!

- I want to help decide how PTA fundraising moneys are spent.

- I want all students at Oakland to be successful.

If the above statements are true please consider volunteering as a PTA Officer or committee chair for the 2022-2023 School Year. We are seeking a President, Vice President of Membership, and Treasurer.

If you are interested in either of those positions or just want to volunteer please contact hollywulfekuhle@spsk12.net.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Dress Code

As warmer days approach please make sure that students are still following the SPS Dress Code. Dress code is indicated on page 6 of our SPS Student Code of Conduct.

Sharing Food

Students are not allowed to share food with their peers. This is due to COVID-19 and allergies. This includes but is not limited to candy, treat bags, birthday cupcakes, lunch, etc. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

Transportation Changes

If your child will be using a different mode of transportation please communicate this to your child’s teacher in writing. We cannot take transportation changes over the phone for safety reasons.

Health

It is extremely important during this time that if your child is sick you keep them at home. If your child has a fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea they must stay home. If they are sent to school sick they will be seen by the school nurse and a parent or guardian will have to pick them up from school. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!

Communication/Home Access Center

Please make sure that the school keeps updated contact information on file for you. We should have an updated phone number, email address, and mailing address. This information is used to keep you informed of upcoming events and important school topics.

Also, please check Home Access Center (HAC) frequently to ensure that you are updated on your students' academic progress.

Avoid the Summer Slide

Research shows that students who read at least five books during the summer can maintain literacy skills! Please see the links below for more summer tips:
