Viking News - The Week of 1/16/2023

Happy Friday, RHS Students!
Wow! Here we are wrapping up the first half of the year as we enter into mid-term exam week this coming week. It was another busy week at RHS; with many moments that made us proud. RHS DECA came out on top at this past week's District Competition. The following students will be moving on to the state level of competition: Neil Mueller, Ed Merz, Ella Lorenz, Ava MacDowell, Grace Englis, Julia Sekercan, Caleb Francis, Connor Carrington-House, Jackie Eng-Barber, Ella Silver, Natalie Lamond , Nate Cook and Franky Twombly. Julia, Jackie, and Natalie earned first place awards! Kudos to RHS DECA for continuing to make RHS proud 💪.
RHS Drama Llamas started auditions this past week as they gear up to formally begin their work on the DramaFest student-written play, 'Beverly Billingly Takes a Bow'. Students have already been working alongside the author to write and build this custom experience for the annual event. We are excited to get technicians and actors lined up to see their creation come to life on stage!
Orchestra musicians have been working with Bluegrass and Old-Time music legends Tony Trischka and Bruce Molsky over the past week. 30 of our high school string players performed with them on stage at the Shalin Liu Performance Center this past Wednesday. As always, it was an amazing showing of true talent and a testament to the heart of this beautiful community.
Don't forget that mid-term exams are this coming week! Please be sure to be in school and on time for your scheduled exams. Communication is key if issues arise. Please be proactive so we can assure the successful completion of exams and the closing of semester 1 this coming Friday. Good luck to all. You got this! 💪.
I hope you enjoy a nice long weekend! 😎

If your high school student wishes to take the normally scheduled bus, he or she may use the library to read or to prepare for upcoming exams.
