💪 KSD Future Ready: Work-place learning
One of the areas of our district's strategic plan -- strong partnerships -- is ensuring that our students have opportunities for quality experiences in workplaces before they graduate.
This school year, Tami Evanow joined our high school team to coordinate work-based opportunities with area businesses. (Yes, this is the same Tami who was an amazing teacher at Silver Trail Elementary.)
Tami recently shared some photos of our students in different workplaces in our community.
Our Career Technical Education Coordinator Stuart Vickers shared that thanks to the opportunity two students had with Western States Cat Equipment -- they have job offers.
We appreciate our local employer's partnership in welcoming our students. If you are an employer and are interested please contact Tami at (208) 955-0200, Ext 2005.
➡️ We hope to see you Thursday night!
The Superintendent's Advisory Council, the Kuna School District, and the City of Kuna are sponsoring Connecting Together #2 Helping Kids Choose Their Future at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Kuna High's Performing Arts Center.
Ada County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Brian Keen and former DEA Agent Rocky Herron recorded a short video to provide more information.
In addition to the speakers, the event will feature booths where participants can get more information and talk with representatives from community organizations.
This community involvement and parent information event is also part of our district's strategic plan under the safety pillar.
✨ New free assistance program for Kuna School District families ✨
A new program addressing student mental health and supporting families is being offered free to families in the Kuna School District.
The Student and Family Assistance Program (SFAP) is provided through a partnership between Central District Health and BPA Health.
The SFAP includes free counseling sessions for each student and their families. These sessions are solution-focused, allowing students to reduce problems that interfere with their academic success. The program includes five separate sessions per mental or behavioral issue.
“This new program is expanding existing youth mental and behavioral health services by including all family members and adding new avenues that didn’t exist before,” said Russell Duke, CDH director. “The fact that the service is free will eliminate cost barriers that might exist.”
BPA Health offers in-person counseling as well as virtual appointments so that families can access the help they need in a timely manner.
Additionally, the SFAP features a crisis hotline 24 hours a day, seven days a week for families and individuals who need immediate assistance.
BPA Health offers additional support services including a variety of topics from legal advice to financial planning.
