preventing kitchen accidents
To prevent accidents in the kitchen;
- store knives away from your other utensils
- clean up spills on the floor right way
- open lids away from yourself to avoid steam burns
- many appliances shouldn't be plugged into one outlet
- make sure hands are dried thoroughly before handling electric equipment
- chemicals must be stored away and separate from foods
in case of emergency alert your teacher as soon as possible
if burned while cooking;
- run burn under cold water for 10-20 minutes too cool it
- if burn blisters don't pop the blister (helps with healing)
- in case of grab fire blanket,extinguisher,and alert the teacher
if cut while cooking;
- apply direct pressure with a paper towel too stop any further bleeding
- raise hands above your head if cut is on the hand or arm
- if cut is deep ask teacher for bandage and glove
- throw out any food that got contaminated
how to prevent food born illnesses;
- avoid eating under cooked meats,unpasteurized milk and juice and cheese made from the milk
- use a thermometer too unsure your meat has cooked fully
- wash hands before and after handling foods
- wash foods thoroughly
- before use
- make sure refrigerator is at the right temperature (40f or below)
All about food born illnesses
- caused by microorganisms in food
- bacteria tends to grown on moist and high in protein foods
- grows in room temperature or warm conditions
- throw away foods in it gets moldy
- keep foods in air tight containers or Tupperware
- keep poultry away from other foods
