Falcon Band and Color Guard

From the Directors

We'd like to congratulate our amazing Falcon Winterguard on their 2nd place finish at the Turner HS competition this past Saturday.

It was a great start to their contest season, and we couldn’t have done it without the support and help of our amazing parents, family members, and band students who assisted with props, food, and show prep.

We look forward to the guard’s next performance at Goose Creek HS on Feb 12.

(Times TBA)

Please come out and support our fantastic award-winning team!

New Girls Concert Dresses

The band has purchased new long, black dresses for the girls concert uniform. They were ordered at the beginning of the school year, but did not arrive in time to be issued for the winter holiday concerts. All the new dresses are in now, and we will be issuing them after school as follows:

Monday January 31 from 2:45-4:45 - Seniors & Juniors

Monday February 7 from 2:45-4:45 - Sophomores & Freshman

We will need 3 parent volunteers each day, so if you can help please send me an email or text.

Note on alterations: The dresses have not been pre-hemmed and will all be extra long. We will not have a tailor come in to do any hemming, so you will need to take the dress to a tailor to have it hemmed at your own expense. Please let your tailor know that it is ok to cut the dress material when doing the hem.

The girls will need to bring back the old dresses we issued in November. They do NOT need to be dry-cleaned.

Solo and Ensemble Contest

CLHS is hosting this event on Saturday February 5th. Students should be in the process of practicing with their accompanist (if their solo requires one). A rehearsal schedule is posted in the band hall. Also, a signup sheet will be posted in the band hall for all the student volunteers, who can earn service hours that day. If you would like to help with “hospitality" for the judges, then please contact Ruth Soisson at 281-728-4082.

Ensemble Recital: February 15th

The ensemble recital will take place on Tuesday, February 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm to allow students and parents to eat dinner at home prior. We will serve desserts and punch in a “come and go” format similar to band concerts. Please plan to bring desserts to share that evening. If you would like to bring something from Anything Bundt Cakes, then consider supporting Project Graduation by purchasing vouchers from them:

If you have questions or want to help, then contact Teresa Shurtz and Cindy Snapka, Hospitality Chairs.

Nominating Committee

FBBC is looking for at least 3 members to serve on the nominating committee for next year’s OPEN board and committee chair positions. The nominating committee’s job is to recruit members to fill these OPEN positions and are NOT required to actually fill these positions. These efforts usually begin in February with a desire to vote on the new officers at the April/May meeting.

If you are interested in serving on the nominating committee, then please send a text to Ruth Soisson at (281) 728-4082.

Band Banquet

The band banquet committee is evolving! We had a kick-off meeting last week to discuss the various roles, the venue and the date. More will follow on this topic after we do our homework. Here are some of the various roles: Meals and Drinks, Desserts, Volunteers, Program and Ticket Printing, Decorations, Senior Gifts, Venue Coordination, Ticket Payment Collection. After the date and venue are set, we will be seeking input from the Band Council on event theme and food choices. If you would like to help, contact the Chrystal Limon (Band Banquet Chair) at davidandchrystallimon@gmail.com .
