Fred Lynn Counseling

Counseling 101

Your school counselors are prepared to help with many different types of middle school issues from choosing the right high school specialty program to working out friendship issues. We look forward to getting to know your student this year and helping them achieve their goals.

Mr. Brendan Sulivan

I am the Counseling Director and this is my 8th year at Fred Lynn Middle School. Prior to working at Fred Lynn, I was an elementary school counselor at Parkside Elementary in Fredericksburg, VA. I am originally from NY and completed my education at the University at Albany. My wife is also an educator and together we have 3 girls, ages 11, 8, and 6. We also added a dog named Luna to our family recently!

Ms. Glorie Gentry

I will be the 8th grade counselor this coming year. I have been at Fred Lynn Middle for the last 6 years. Prior to working at Fred Lynn, I was a counselor at Saunders Middle School. I have lived in Prince William County most of life and graduated from Gar-Field High School. I completed my undergraduate work at Virginia Tech and my Masters at the George Washington University. I am of Korean and Puerto Rican heritage and love the diverse student body at Fred Lynn. My husband and I have 3 children, a cat, and a dog. We reside in Fairfax County.

Ms. Amy Huerta

I will be the 6th grade counselor for students whose last names begin with A-La. I am super-excited to work with the incoming Fred Lynn students and to work with each family! This will be my second year at Fred Lynn and my 3rd year in PWCS. Prior to coming to PWCS, I was a high school counselor in Stafford County for 9 years. Before becoming a school counselor, I taught 6th and 7th grade Science and Language Arts. I completed my degree in Counselor Education at Virginia Commonwealth University and my Masters of Arts in Teaching at Mary Baldwin University. My undergraduate degree is in Sociology from Furman University in Greenville, SC. I reside in Fredericksburg with my husband and four dogs, and I am a native of Fredericksburg. I enjoy hiking, running, and going to the beach in my spare time!

Ms. Emily Hess

I am the school counselor for 6th graders whose last names start with Le-Z. This is my first year at Fred Lynn. I'm excited to be a part of the Hive! I worked at Henderson Elementary School for four years before coming to Fred Lynn. My goal is to help my students build resilience and discover tools to help them be personally and academically successful. I believe every student has great potential. I like the quote, "Believe in your infinite potential. Your only limitations are those you set upon yourself," by Roy T. Bennett. I believe the best counseling work is done by building relationships. I like to use mindfulness strategies, art, and games in my counseling. I have two boys, ages 6 and 8. We stay busy hiking, playing soccer, kayaking, and reading.

Mr. Jay Levy

I am the 7th grade counselor this year. I will be working with your children throughout their three years at Fred Lynn. This is my 9th year at Fred Lynn and it has been a lot of fun. This year, we will be looking at careers and internet safety through classroom lessons. I am open to any group themes that you would like to have started with your students. I am from Buffalo, NY and studied at the University of Rochester and Canisius College. In my free time, I enjoy biking, kayaking, hiking, camping, and travel. My office is full of nature scenes that I photographed in my travels. I am excited for a new year!
