A Message From your Principal ~
I would like to thank all the parents and guardians who attended conferences in September. Remember, you can check grades, assignments, and attendance through Infinite Campus and/or Canvas. Parents/Guardians who still need help accessing Canvas may contact Angela Osborn at osborna@live.siouxcityschools.com or call 712-274-4000. If you need help accessing Infinite Campus, please contact Carin Burkhart-Burns at burkac@live.siouxcityschools.com or call 712-274-4002. Also, please feel free to contact your child’s teachers by email or phone.
As a reminder, we have After School Study Sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:05-6:05 for students needing help with their schoolwork. Study Sessions are also available every block. Please contact your child’s counselor for more information.
The Building Leadership Team has been helping teachers incorporate mathematical strategies into the curriculum this year to help increase the number of students proficient in math. Our teachers continue to integrate writing in every subject and one Open Response will be included in each course. The data from last year shows improvement in students’ writing.
I realize you are all very busy and appreciate how you still find time to support your child and East High School. I am very proud of our students. Thank you for having such great kids!
Attendance Request
Students needing to be dismissed early per parent/guardian request, will need to call the school in advance. We will have the student waiting in the office. All students will sign out in the Main Office at the Attendance Desk.

Join Our Grassroots Advocacy Committee
The Sioux City Community School District needs your voice on the Grassroots Advocacy Committee. Would you be willing to be a volunteer for our school? There is VERY LITTLE time commitment and you NEVER have to attend a meeting. As a volunteer, you agree to receive email updates about important legislative events that have an impact on public education. Then, we ask that you take the information you receive and contact our local legislators to let your voice be heard in advocacy of good public education. Advice will be provided on how you can email, call, or write a letter to the legislators. Take a look at some of the past advocacy for reference: http://www.uen-ia.org/legislation.htm. You can also look at the Legislative Action Priorities set by our school board: https://www.siouxcityschools.org/legislative-action-priorities/. Please contact our school principal, Mr. Todd via email toddr@live.siouxcityschools.com to ask questions or volunteer.
