Message from the Principal
Spotswood College Board - Casual vacancy for an elected trustee
A casual vacancy has occurred on the Board for an elected parent representative.
The Board has resolved under section 105, Education Act 1989 to fill the vacancy by selection.
If 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the Board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held.
Any eligible voter who wishes to ask the board to hold a by-election should write to:

The Interviews will be held at your respective schools.
The SENCO, Joanna Sampson, will be at schools on the designated days Spotswood staff come to school to enrol any student with learning or health needs. This will help us ensure the best fit for timetabling and communication of accommodations for your child.
If your school is not listed, please contact the main office (06) 751 2416 and we will provide a date and time for the interview at Spotswood College.

If you or someone you know is in need of support at any time please ensure you make contact with Whaea Kiri manaakitanga@spotswoodcollege.school.nz
Note please this is set up as a ticketing system so that once a referral is made and picked up a ticket will automatically be sent to the referrer.
We are currently exploring a partnership with Taranaki Retreat and Taranaki Primary Connections.
Once contact is made to Whaea Kiri, a needs assessment will be conducted and possible referral or connection with one of the following agencies if or when required.
In addition to the external support outlined in the chart below, other ongoing options are also available for students to access either through self-referral or through a process coordinated by Whaea Kiri and SSN.

Te Kura Correspondence School;
Te Waka Haumaru (specialist offsite programme and mentoring working with at risk taiohi);

Access to free Period Products (through the wellness space located in the old sick bay);

Travellers Programme (The Travellers Programme is an innovative, small group programme for young people, to build resilience and key life skills);

STAFF NEWS
Our very own Link Abrams was recognised for all of his work with our tauira and rangatahi of the the Ngāmotu community, taking home the TSSSA Service to Secondary School Sport award. A very deserving recipient for one of our most selfless community members, so a huge well done to Link. Thank you for all you do within our kura and sporting community, it has never gone unrecognised.
Link joins Anthony Joe in receiving the award with AJ being awarded it in 2018.

Spotswood College Robotics teams took out the top two spots at the Regional WITT Taranaki Science and Technology Fair! We are very proud of our students who were first-time competitors, designing and coding fighting robots.
Other Awards achieved were:
- Carter Quickenden, 1st Prize - Advertising Poster Y10. 1st Prize.
- Catherine Reilly-Leadbetter, 2nd Prize - Y10 Journalism.
- Koby Kapa and Noah McGowan, 1st Prize - Water Rockets (Y9-10 section)

Based on Alan parker's popular 1976 film starring Jodie Foster and Scott Baio, Bugsy Malone is a fast-moving, unsentimental and undeniably funny play. Based on the rivalry between 2 gang leaders in 1930's New York, you will witness speakeasy sparkle and splurge gun battles.
Spotswood College is very pleased to present its first production in over 10 years.

NZ Radio Controls Speedway 2021 - New Zealand Under 16 Championships, hosted by the Taranaki RC Speedway Club in Stratford.
Matthew won 1st place in the Street Stock class and also successfully defended 2nd place in the Stockcar class, both recognised titles at the National level. An outstanding achievement.

ATTENDANCE
We have a school attendance target of above 90% for every student. To ensure that together we reach this, it is important that if you know your child is going to be absent from school, that you please contact the school by using one of the following options.
Option 1: Telephone the school on 06 751 2416 and speak to the receptionist (Tracey) or Attendance Officer (Jenine).
Option 2: Send a text to the Attendance Officer (Jenine) on 021 023 93060
Option 3: send an email to the Attendance Officer (Jenine) - jpr@spotswoodcollege.school.nz
Option 4: Leave a message on the Attendance hotline by calling the school on 06 751 2416 and press (1) to report a student absence. Record your child’s name, parents name, contact details and reason for absence.
If for any reason you are concerned about your child’s attendance, you can speak with the Attendance Officer (see contact details above) or she will pass you on to the DEAN or your child’s Learning Advisor.
School Uniform
We also have a large accumulation of uniforms that are a part of lost property that is kept in this space, If your child has a missing school item, please encourage them to check the lost property racks.
