How can stretching help you exercise and save money?
What is stretching?
Stretching is to straighten or extend one's body or a part of one's body to it's full length, typically so as to tighten one's muscles or in order to reach something.
How can stretching save you money?
By stretch you remove possibilities of you getting injured. By stretching you warm up your muscles and it helps them be able to withstand the strenuous workouts.
Why stretch?
Stretching can make you more flexible. It can also help warm up your muscles to avoid injury while doing an exercise or activity.
Types of exercises:
- Push-Ups
- Bicycles
- Hang Ten
Push-Ups
- Assume a face down prone position on the floor
- Raise yourself using your arms
- Lower your torso to the ground until your elbows form a 90* angle
- Raise your self by attempting to push the ground away from you
- Repeat lowering and raising yourself at a steady place
Bicycles
- Lie on the floor
- Put your hands behind your head
- Raise your legs
- Touch your right elbow to your left leg
- Vise Versa
- Continue until satisfied
Reach for your toes
- Touch your toes
Some stretches you could do before bed:
Sleeping Swan
- Sit on the floor with pillow in front of you
- Bend left knee, bringing sole of left foot to your right inner thigh
- Lift butt and extend right leg behind you
- Staying centered gently hinge forward from hips and place head on pillow
- Extend arms forward elbows slightly bent
- Hold for 8 to 10 breaths then switch legs and repeat
Happy Baby
- Lie face up. Bend knees into chest and grab inside edges of feet with hands, palms facing out
- Bring knees out to sides, then lower towards armpits, keeping heels above knees, feet flexed
- Hold for 8 to 10 breaths gently rocking from side to side
Bridge
- Lie face up knees bent, feet flat on floor, arms extended by sides, palms up
- Keeping shoulders down, engage abs press into heels to lift hips and back to form a diagonal line from shoulders to knees
- Hold for 8 to 10 breaths, lower
