MCR-SGA Mental Health Taskforce (NEW)
Greetings from the Montgomery County Regional SGA (MCR-SGA) Mental Health Taskforce. MCR-SGA is a student-led organization dedicated to advocacy and representing the MCPS student voice. Our leadership organization represents all 26 MCPS high schools, including yours! Our Mental Health Taskforce is a branch of MCR-SGA that has been given the task of advocating for mental health. Our application has opened and is effective until September 30, 11:59pm. Because your school is part of MCPS, we would like for your school to be aware of this opportunity. We encourage your students to apply for the position if they want to make a local change. Here is what you can do to support our organization:
- Advertise our application through intercom announcements https://docs.google.com/document/d/19rJ4EmzmQxSQSt2LAVxEycgd3C-ooxtccAbMO0eqoUg/edit?usp=share_link
- Advertising during morning announcements https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1PTJQ38JeOjEcgO5GgwIeFDgZ9TtI_wPZ0dXRFMPEDpw/edit?usp=share_link
- Reposting our instagram post on the school instagram profile
Your support is invaluable to the student voice and MCR-SGA. Thank you for your continued support of students in MCPS.

Early Dismissal Process (REPEAT)
If you need to pick up your student early from school, please have your student bring a note to the main office in the morning to receive a pass to leave class at the designated time, and meet you in the main office. Please do not ask your child to meet you in the parking lot without signing as this creates a safety issue for your student and the school, prohibits the school from knowing your students whereabouts, and counts as an unexcused absence for your student. You may also email our attendance secretary, Ms. Debra_L_Gedling@mcpsmd.org in advance of your students' absence/departure.
COVID Protocol for SY23-24 (NEW)
There have been changes made to COVID protocol for the 23-24 school year. Please read the September 6 - MCPS Community Message to learn more. Also, it is important to note that while we have been able to return to school and work in person again this year following the COVID epidemic, to keep our doors open and to remain safe, it is important that if your child is sick that they take the necessary precautions outlined in the community message above, and if your child tests positive for COVID, they MUST remain home until they have fulfilled the requirements outlined in the COVID guidance.
IB Guest Speakers and College Fair (REPEAT)
As part of our ongoing efforts to provide a rich and diverse learning experience for our students, we are excited to announce the return of our IB Monthly Speaker Series. This initiative aims to bring real-world insights and expertise directly to our students, enhancing their journey as members of an IB World School.
We are reaching out to you, our valued parents, guardians, and caregivers, with a special request. If you or someone you know is a subject matter expert, passionate about sharing insights, and willing to volunteer time, we would greatly appreciate your participation in our IB Speaker Series. Your contribution can make a significant impact on our student's understanding of various fields and their global perspectives.
Whether it's a personal passion, professional expertise, or an area of interest, your involvement would enrich our student's educational experience in profound ways.
If you're interested or know someone who might be, please take a moment to fill out this brief form. Your willingness to contribute your time and knowledge is truly invaluable, and we are grateful for your support.
