PLHS Course Selection Process
Hello Future Pointers,
We appreciate the time our Point Loma High School counselors spent with us on Thursday, January 19th explaining the 9th grade course selection process. Students will meet with their future counselor to enter course requests during Science classes on February 2nd and 3rd.
The Point Loma High School Matriculation page provides all the necessary links with instructions to select classes for the 2023-24 school year.

The Hungry Dog Dash Is Back! Registration Now Open
11th Annual Hungry Dog Dash: February 12, 2023
REGISTER EARLY FOR THE BEST PRICING!
Pricing is still at its lowest: $25 for youths and $30 for adults.
Prices go up on January 22.

- Official race T-shirt
- Dog tags
- Water stops along the course and at the finish
- A chance to stand on the podium for the top three finishes in all age divisions

Input on Math Placement Policy - a message from SDUSD
Over the past year the SDUSD math team met with each cluster to listen and share information about math. The information will be used to draft a new accelerated math placement policy. Here is another opportunity for anyone who would like to provide input:
Semester 1 Grading Period Ends on January 20th
This past Friday, January 20th, was the end of the semester 1 (S1) grading period. Teachers will post grades the following week to be available via PowerSchool on Friday, January 27th. Paper reports will be sent home through Advisory Classes on Friday, January, 27th.

Middle School Athletics Winter Sports
Middle School Sports began on Thursday, January 12th. Practices for soccer and volleyball will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Communication regarding teams and practices will come directly from coaches and the SDUSD Middle School Sports program.
If you participated in basketball or track & field please return you uniforms to the Correia front office.--Thank you!
CAUGHT BEING AWESOME
The staff at Correia enjoys recognizing positive student behavior and accomplishments. Staff recognizes students by distributing Caught Being Awesome cards. Names of students receiving cards are then submitted for our weekly raffle. Weekly winners are recognized by a gift card that is supported by the Correia Association.

Correia Homework Club is On!
Homework Club is offered at Correia on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 2:55-3:55pm. This is in addition to the PrimeTime After School Academic Support Program.

Correia ASB is now accepting applications for new and existing clubs. Applications must be filed yearly and be approved before clubs can meet.

YOUTH TENNIS SAN DIEGO
8TH GRADE SHEP PROGRAM PREVIEW OPPORTUNITY
The 8th-grade Sexual Health Education Program will be conducted the last 6-weeks of school.
At Correia Middle School, the SHEP program is taught by 8th grade Science teachers. Correia Science teachers will teach the 10 Sexual Health Lessons consolidated into 1 week of instruction.

We are only at 20% of our fundraising goal of $30,000, and we need your support! Funds raised will assist teachers and staff members, supply supplemental educational materials and student experiences, and support school and family social interactions. Without the generosity of your tax-deductible donations, these enrichment programs and special events are not possible. We know with everyone’s support we will have a successful campaign with spectacular outcomes that enrich our children and community!
