Hillcrest Family Newsletter

June 1st, 2018

Short and Busy!

It was a short but busy week for everyone. The 4K field trip and the Kindergarten Circus kept our youngest learners engaged and learning. The 3rd grade economics project has been a big success, too!

Next week we look forward to Olympic Day for all of our students and the last day Hillcrest traditions for everyone. Families are welcome to join our picnic over the lunch hour (11:30-12:30) and most families opt to bring a lunch for their child. If your child needs a school lunch ordered for that day, you can respond to this form if you have not already.

5th grade families will want to join the 5th graders as they ring our Hillcrest bell at 3:20 on the last day of school before moving on to middle school.

Our calendar is already loaded up for fun next year. Be sure to join us on August 21st for our Welcome and Pictures event. The PTO and Park and Rec will be on hand to share what events are in store for the next school year. The photographer is also here on that day to take school pictures for the yearbook. Open House is on August 30th and the first day of school is September 4th! We will keep you posted over the summer with periodic newsletters but we wanted families to take note of those dates.

Staffing Update for 2018-2019

We are saying good bye to Ms. Laura Price for next school year as she is transferring to Summit View School to teach next year. We are not staffed to have a third section to roll up to 4th grade with our 4th graders next year. Since there are only two sections of third grade for next year, we lose Ms. Price's talents at Hillcrest next year.

We wish her the very best on the next steps of her professional journey and we thank her for her service to our Hillcrest Community. Her passion for learning, for literacy and for her students shines through in everything she does!

All additional grade levels will be staffed at the current level and by the current teachers. We have no other retirements, transfers or resignations. Our staff is looking forward to greeting students again in the fall!

GE Day Volunteers

On August 8th, we will have 90 GE volunteers come to Hillcrest to paint, rake, plant, build, and paint some more. This will result in an incredible transformation for our school. We are looking for any additional adult volunteers who would like to join us for this day. If you sign up now, you will get a free GE Day t-shirt and lunch will be provided for everyone! Please note, because of the amount of equipment and people who are present on that day, only adults over the age of 18 will be able to be on site for that day and everyone present must sign a waiver from GE. If you would like to join the fun, please sign up via this FORM.
