- They are known as safeguards of computer systems.

- Service is usually provided to the government, schools, and other businesses.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Security specialists are required to protect confidential data from hackers. They must communicate with staff employees of the importance of frequently changing passwords and brief them on security protocol. Security specialists are trained to protect identity, networks, and data of organizations. Especially if they are prone to a security breach or a government organization.

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED TRAINING

A bachelor’s degree in computer technology required to qualify for this position. Education and experience in computer programming or risk managment are also considered good qualifications. Certificates specific to computer security are often offered at community colleges and technical institutes.

REQUIRED COMPUTER SCIENCE RELATED SKILLS

Some of the computer skills you must have are programming and general knowledge about software security systems. High school computer science and computer studies courses are good prep courses for university level courses like those. The ability to solve problems quickly and come up with solutions is a critical part of this job. You must be able to work with others such as employees of an organization and lead them to take the proper steps into neutralizing a security threat.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Security specialists will often work in an office environment spending most time on computers looking at potential risks and/or working out a solution if a breach of security has been caused. They will also often work with others such as a team of specialists, the police, and staff employees of companies.

ANNUAL SALRY

This job pays between $73,000 and $135,000 per year depending on how senior you are.

TRENDS IN CURRENT JOB MARKET

The trends in the current job market show that it is not a popular job because we don't need too many of them. But, as we advance in the technological world we will need more as more organizations will become prone to security threats. This job is a great job to have with a good pay, but hours my not be so flexible. The good news is that this job is here to stay as we will always use some form of technology.
