Back-To-School Online Check-In Opens Wed, August 3rd @ Noon!

As shared earlier this week, our "Back-To-School Online Check-In" process will open for all families to complete per child on Wednesday, August 3rd at noon. Please see this communication and this parent checklist for details so you can be ready to complete information for your child. As shared in these materials, please complete check-in for your child(ren) between Wednesday, August 3rd and Friday, August 12th.

Start of School Year Planning

As a reminder, the first few days of school will include a staggered start for most grade levels. Please review the information below so you can best plan for your child(ren) and your family.

  • For 5K through 8th Grade, we are doing a staggered start over the first two days of school on September 1st and 2nd similar to how we have done the last two school years. The staggered start provides opportunities, especially for our younger students, to work with teachers on these days to better understand school and classroom norms, technology expectations, safety protocols, lunch procedures, recess routines, bus arrival/departure processes, and more. The details of which students will attend which day are shown below.

  • At the High School level, 9th graders and students new to FHS in grades 10-12 will be the only students to report on Thursday, September 1st. On Friday, September 2nd, all students grades 9-12 will report to school.

  • 4K Students will have Get-To-Know-You Conferences on Thursday, September 1st and Friday, September 2nd where parents and their child can attend for a short meeting with the teacher. Then, 4K students will have a staggered start on Tuesday, September 6th or Wednesday, September 7th. Details about the conferences and staggered start will be shared during August.

You can click the image below to see more details about how these days will be structured.

The days that students do not attend during the first week are considered non-school days for those students. This means students will not be assigned any homework; they will have no school requirements on those days when they are not in session. In addition, for students in grades 5K through 8, if you have a blended family with two last names, you may send those students on the same day during the first week of school. School office staff returns to the buildings beginning August 1st so please inform them of any special circumstances after that date. More information about the start of the school year will come from the school buildings as school newsletters start going out to families in late August.

Immunization Requirements for 6th Graders & 5K Kindergarteners

Incoming 5K Kindergarteners
  • To protect children from diseases that are preventable by immunization, Wisconsin law requires all students to show that they have received the required immunizations or have a signed waiver. Please see this document for more information and click here to read more about Wisconsin immunization requirements.
  • Please contact your health care provider for questions regarding immunizations and your child’s health.

Incoming 6th graders
  • The Student Immunization Law requires that all students entering the 6th grade receive a dose of the Tdap vaccine. To remain compliant with the law, you must provide the month, day, and year that your child received the required immunization on the attached Student Immunization Record, or select one of the waiver options (health, religious or personal conviction) prior to October 14, 2022 and return the form to your child's school. If you have any questions about how to obtain the required immunizations, please email nurses@franklin.k12.wi.us

If you are looking for summer meal options for your children, please check the “Summer Food Service Program Outreach” section of our Lunch webpage here.

PLANNING FOR SCHOOL LUNCHES 2022-23

As the 2022-23 school year approaches, we want to remind families about what school lunch will look like for the 2022-23 school year. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that has been allowing students to receive free meals will no longer be offering this service for free next school year.

At the start of the 2022-23 school year, school lunches will no longer be free. Prices will remain the same as they were set for the 2020-21 school year.

We highly encourage families to continue to participate in the convenient, nutritious, and cost-friendly school meals. Our lunch webpage also contains our online lunch menus for all school buildings for the 2022-23 school year.

FREE & REDUCED PRICE MEALS FOR 2022-23

We encourage families to complete the free and reduced lunch application. The application can be completed online after August 1st, 2022. To find the application, we will have a link on our website here.
