"You really can change the world if you care enough." - Marian Wright Edelman

Happy Friday Davis Families!

We are wrapping up another busy week at DMS. Our final winter sport competition is a wrestling tournament this weekend (GOOD LUCK!). Our basketball teams finished up tournament play earlier this week. Our Drama Club is rehearsing every day to get ready for their Law and Order Fairytale Unit play coming up soon. Our music programs are all performing a variety of concerts over the next few weeks. Spring sports are just around the corner. And of course the learning continues in our classrooms. Science labs, math stations, book clubs, geography bees...so much fun in learning!

I hope you all have a great weekend. Go Irish!

You can follow check out our social media pages including the Davis Student Council Instagram page for more details this month.

8th Grade Interims

Davis CommUNITY Fest

Davis Middle School is hosting Family CommUNITY Fest on Thursday February 16th, 2023 from 5-7p. Davis students, families, and local businesses are invited to the school to share elements of who they are through storytelling, food, dance, arts and many other things that make each person or group unique. There will be food to sample, art projects to complete, music to listen to and stories to enjoy. We hope you and your family will join us!

Lunch Accounts

We have quite a few students that have accumulated a negative balance in their lunch account this year. We do not deny any student a lunch, so if they come through the line and do not have money on their account, they are charged for the lunch. Please make sure to take a look at your student's account to see if money needs to be added. If you need to fill out a free/reduced lunch application, it can be accessed at the link below. If you do not want your student to get a lunch in the cafeteria, you can have an alert added to their account you can contact Sybil Bell from Sodexo at (614) 718-8315 or sybil.bell@sodexo.com.

Irish Athletics

Winter Sports Wrap Up

Winter sports are all but concluded this weekend here at Davis. The Athletic Department wanted to thank all of the kids that participate in a winter sport and most of all a huge thanks to the many parents and guardians that helped our teams and coaches this winter. Your generous donation of time, food donations and just getting your athletes "to and from" this winter are greatly appreciated! We had a great group of kids this winter season for sure and an even greater support network with our Irish parents! Thanks for all you do for your (our) kids! Great parents make for great programs.

Winter Sports Uniform/Equipment Turn-In & Locker Cleanout:

If you have not done so already, coaches will be reaching out to you about collecting all winter sports uniforms and equipment. Please make sure that all of your athlete's uniform pieces and equipment if issued are returned clean & dry. If you are turning in items to the main office at your coach's direction, please make sure it is placed in a plastic bag with their name clearly marked on the outside of the bag. Be sure to let your coach know when your athlete has dropped off their items. ALL sports lockers must be cleaned out and locks removed by Wednesday, February 8 at 3:15 pm. Even if they are going to participate in a spring sport, all items must be removed for "spring cleaning & disinfection." New lockers will be issued once they make their new spring sports team.

Spring Sports: If you have a student that is interested in participating in one of the many spring sports programs we offer at Davis, please go to the Athletics Website and click on the article that contains all the information you and your student will need to know to join or tryout for a team this Spring. Conditioning dates, times, and tryout information have already been posted to get ready for Spring sports which begin February 21, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact the A.D. office anytime.

6th-Grade Winter Sports Camps: Don't forget that our 6th-grade basketball camps begin next week! Boys' camp runs Monday & Tuesday (2/6 & 2/7) from 3:15 - 5:15. Our girls' camp runs Wednesday & Thursday (2/7 & 2/8) from 3:15 - 5:15 as well. Wrestling camp will be held on Monday, February 13 from 3:15 - 5:15.
