Dream Team Weekly Newsletter

February 1st-5th

What are we doing?!

There are so many exciting things going on this week! First of all, Groundhogs Day is tomorrow and who doesn't love a day full of lessons on groundhogs?! On Friday, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school!! Can you believe it?! Your sweet baby is 100 days smarter! They have all made so much progress in the first 100 days; I can only imagine the progress they will make between now and the end of the year?! Also this week, our reading focus will be written comprehension on main idea! In math, Kindergarten is using base tens to answer addition problems. First grade will work on creating and describing new shapes using the correct attributes! In phonics, our Spot and Dot focus will be on using complex words within sentences.

100th Day of School/Spirit Week!

Our school decided, last minute, that we should have Spirit Week to celebrate the 100th Day of School on Friday! Please see below to know what each day will consist of..

Tuesday-Spirit Day! Wear your red/white to show your Covington Street Spirit!

Wednesday-Wacky Tacky Day! Wear your wackiest attire and celebrate our Wacky Wednesday with us!

Thursday-Team Day! Wear your favorite jersey or t-shirt from your favorite team!

Friday-100th Day of School! You have two options: 1)Dress like you are 100 years old! 2)Design your own outfit to show the number 100 (ex: make and wear a shirt with 100 buttons)

Thanks for helping your child join in on such a fun week!

AR Points!

This 9 weeks I will try my best to keep you updated on AR points! Each child is working to get a total of 5 AR points throughout the 9 weeks to earn a trip to the AR Party at the end of the 3rd Quarter! Here are last weeks point totals! Keep working hard, super readers! You rock!

Kindergarten: Kayson (0.3), Drew (1.0), Tyrus (0.9)

First Grade: Camiree (0.5), Azia (0.5), Donovin (0.4), Jamarion (1.0)

Specials!

Please keep in mind that library books are due back each Monday. Also remember that if your child would like to take an AR test on their library book they must read it at least 2 times prior to taking the test. This may mean reading it twice in one night or that may mean reading it for 2 nights, whatever your child prefers to do is fine!

Also, PE is on Tuesday. Please make sure that your baby wears appropriate shoes on Tuesday so that they may participate in the activities during PE!
