Questions
1. What groups are involved, who had the power?
The groups that are involved are the Army & Wealthy, the peasants, the Guatemalan government, the Guerillas, and the US. At the beginning of the game the Army & Wealthy had the power.
2. How the balance of power shifted and why?
At the beginning of the game the Army & Wealthy had the power but then the Guerillas started getting power because they signed a treaty with Cuba and they attacked the Army & Wealthy. The Guerillas also got some MSUs from the government and peasants. By the end of the game the Guerillas had the power.
3. How was cooperation and conflict shown in the game?
Different groups were making treaties to join forces or to try to be friendly with each other. The Army & Wealthy and the Guerillas attacked each other on the first day but on the second day the Guerillas attacked the Army & Wealthy but they didn't counterattack and on the third day there were no attacks.
4. What role did the US have on the simulation?
The US had a lot of power because they were an outside force and nobody to do anything to them. They couldn't be silenced and they sort of sit there and observe what's going on and help if they need to.
5. What happens to a country when power shifts, is the effect positive or negative?
When power shifts the country with more MSUs has the power to silence people and they're sort of in charge. It can be positive and negative. It's negative for the country that lost the power and, if nobody likes the new country that's in power, it can be negative for the citizens too. It's positive for the new country in power and, if the citizens of the country like them, it can be positive for the citizens too.
6. Apply this information to your life. What relationships do you have in your life, how are cooperation and conflict evident? Provide a minimum of 2 examples.
This is pretty much like my life. You negotiate with people, like you say I'll give you this for that or if you don't tell her/him I'll do this for you. I also have conflicts with people/ friends, like I get in fights with friends over something or we disagree on something. I'm like the US though. If my friends are in a fight, I try to not get in the middle of it and sort of just observe and try to help a little.
