ELA
This week has been a fun one full of school spirit in ELA! We continued to practice making inferences and drawing conclusions, reviewed for our post-assessment, and continued reading Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie! We took our post-assessment on Thursday. We are looking forward to our first Close Read and Socratic Seminar of the year, as well as doing test retakes next week.

Here you can see the agenda as it is updated daily to reflect what students are doing each day. Our objective rubrics for the first quarter are linked to the Power Standards below.
Learning Targets for the Week:

Power Standards for the Quarter:
Provide evidence that living things are made up of one or many varied cells
Explain that cells must carry out all of the basic functions of life. Understand the functions of the nucleus, chloroplasts, mitochondria, cell membrane, and cell wall and all organelles work together to make a cell function.
Use evidence to argue that multicellular organisms are organized by varying levels of complexity.
Describe the role of photosynthesis and cellular respiration in the cycling of matter and flow of energy in and out of organisms

Week at a Glance:
This week we spent time analyzing our Native American assessment, relearning and reassessing over missed skills. Those students who showed mastery on all concepts got ot participate in an Enrichment activity on the Cahokia Mounds. Next week we will begin our unit on European exploration. We can't wait to ship out!

- Compare the reasons Europeans wanted to explore and settle in the New World and how they affected the Native American population in their area.
