Upcoming Preparedness Drills
In continuing our efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for our students and staff at Buffett Magnet Middle School, we will practice two emergency drills this month. These drills are to ensure that all students and staff in our school will know what to do in case of a real emergency situation.
We will practice a new drill, HOLD in Your Classroom. This drill requires students and teachers to remain in their classrooms and conduct business as usual, even if there is a scheduled class change, until the ALL CLEAR is announced. We will have a practice HOLD in Your Classroom drill on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at 2:30 PM. No students will be able to be checked out of school between 2:30-2:40.
We will practice a LOCKDOWN drill on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at approximately 9:00 A.M. During the lockdown practice drill, a team of police officers will be deployed. During the lockdown drill, students and staff move clear of windows with the lights off and the doors locked. The officers will sweep the building to check that procedures have been followed. The drills will only take a few minutes.
Please review this information with your child so that it is understood that these are only drills. Thank you for supporting the safety efforts of Buffett Middle School to protect the students, staff, and visitors in our building.
Meet Remi & Officer Dickey - Our K9 Support Duo
Deputy Remi is well-trained and ready to help our students stay safe
Officer Dickey and Deputy Remi work as a team to keep illegal substances from coming to Buffett
Our K-9 team visits our school at least twice a month
Officer Dickey and Deputy Remi Support Our Bobcats Every Month
Did you know that Officer Dickey and Deputy Remi come to Buffett Magnet to visit our hallways and classrooms at least twice a month? As a regular part of keeping Buffett Magnet safe from drugs, we are proud to have our very own K-9 support from the Omaha Police Department. Deputy Remi is a trained drug sniffing dog and is capable of detecting many types of illegal substances. She not only trains at Buffett, but she does regular sniffs to keep these types of substances out of our building. Our students see these hard working helpers as they pass to their next classes, and sometimes in the classroom. Students smile and enjoy having this sweet and hardworking team in our school. We are lucky to have this friendship with the Omaha Police Department!

Did you know there are 404 student participants? They will be presenting 373 projects in one of two sessions. The sessions will be assigned to the student and will either be in the morning session or the afternoon session.

MTSSB - School Store
When students make good choices and follow the Buffett High Five, they are rewarded with Bobcat Bucks.
Students are able to purchase items at the school store with their bucks. The store's inventory includes many items. Some of the most popular items are a squishy paw and Buffett gear. The store sells Buffett sun glasses, water bottles and lanyards, in case yours is lost or broken. The most popular Buffett gear, however, is the hoodies and sweatshirts.
Keep following the Buffett High Five, and you will earn enough bucks to purchase these items!
