Whaea Donna is working on dates for next year for those who are thinking about beginning their Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion journey - please reach out at any time as we can help you with this.
If your child is in year 6 and is attending St Peter’s College next year there is a grant available to assist with costs such as travel, uniform, stationery and technology. This funding comes from our OLOL Parish and families can apply for it each year that your child attends St Peter’s College.

Breakfast club is thriving with children/tamariki enjoying this healthy breakfast of Weetbix and milk every day now!!! From our meeting/hui and the question around the Lunches in School, we made contact with this amazing organisation - unfortunately as it was when it first began, we do not meet the criteria. As a board we will now offer Breakfast every morning as well as organising fresh fruit for all our children.
Mā te Atua koutou e manaaki
May God keep and bless you
The OLOL Team
MALO NI - Welcome to Tokelau Language week
PET BLESSING LITURGY - MONDAY OCTOBER 31
We are so excited to have this once again in our school. This will begin at 2pm on the back field. It is exciting to hear of the many family pets that are coming along. Can you please contact the office by phone or an email to let us know if your child is bringing an animal for the afternoon so we can organise this accordingly. For the safety of all a reminder that animals will need to be on a leash or in a cage for their time at school.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PET - THAT IS OKAY WE HAVE A PLAN !!!😊
We do not want any child to miss out on this excitement, so next Monday your child could bring along their favourite soft toy, teddy bear, toy animal and we can share and celebrate these wonderful creatures with our school community as well.
Starting time 2pm - with a welcome to our school/kura
A brief liturgy and blessing for our precious pets and soft toys
A walk around to view our special creatures.
FROM OUR BOARD
Lunch in schools request- As mentioned above our school does not fit the criteria. At our Board meeting it was decided we would offer breakfast and fruit everyday to support our healthy food in schools. We will keep in touch with the Lunch in Schools organisation.
Annual Plan: The Board are working on our goals for next year and will share these priorities with you next week for your input and feedback.
Working Bee: Saturday November 19th: 10-3pm
We are planning to complete a range of things to improve our school on this date. We are looking to paint the caretakers shed, and spare wall, replace wood by front paths, water blast swimming pool shade sail, sand and paint front seats, paint side of the neighbours garage by the back path and a general clean and tidy up. If you have some spare time during the day and able to share your skills then we would appreciate your help. Board members will be overseeing each task over the day and as we know many hands make light work. Lunch will be provided.
Signage around the school: We have contacted Awesome Art who is helping with this to make our Catholic values, wellbeing and who we are and what we are about more visible for our children, families and community.
Bicultural: Our school is a crown entity and we have a responsibility to uphold the 4 articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This year, as part of our Catholic Kāhui Ako, we have a focus across our Catholic schools of learning more. Four of our staff are undertaking a Level 1 Māori course with the aim that staff will gain Level 2 by the end of 2024.
Multicultural events: We have put together a draft Promotion/Engagement plan which has a planned Multicultural event in Term 1. We will put the plan in place in the next few weeks and we will share this with you. We are looking for ways to be more inclusive of our 13 cultures in our school.
For more information, parents have enrolled their children as:
1.5% African
1.5% Cook Island
12% Indian
.76% Latin American
11% Maori
36% New Zealand
2.3% Other Asian
1.5% Other European
11% Samoan
12% South East Asian
1.5% Tokelauan
7% Tongan
We are truly blessed to have this rich cultural diversity.
High Achievement: We are blessed at our school to have very high achievement rates through all levels of our school. You would have seen the below mid year data. We will share our end of year data with you in November. We are also working to develop your child's end of year HERO report showing progress in all 8 curricula areas.
