SEL Focus of the Week: Feelings & Caring
Feelings and Caring
As a part of the SEL Competency, Self-Awareness, this week we will study feelings and caring. Self-Awareness means to recognize your own feelings, thoughts, and actions.
Recognizing our feelings is very important. It can help us to understand why we are feeling a certain way and how to feel better if we need to!
Caring about others feelings in important too. Caring can help us to understand others feelings so we know how to help them if we can!
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day 2021
Thursday, March 18th
From Mr. Candillo
Hello LIONS,
I want to start by giving a HUGE SHOUT-OUT to Mrs. Rider and Mrs. Hundley's Kindergarten class. This week, I learned that every student in their class has mastered 100% of their sight words. This is a great accomplishment and quite a milestone for a Kindergarten student. I am so proud of them and it was so much fun to broadcast our morning news show live from their classroom this past Wednesday morning! Keep up the great work.
As I've been around the building this week, I have been reading some of the great writing that our children are producing! We have some great thinkers, researchers and authors at NPE! Your children are doing amazing things each day, and it has been so exciting to see Writer's Workshop in action. Please take a moment and ask your child about what they are currently writing.
This week we studied self-control. Make sure to ask your child what that means and how they can show it in different situations. Also, a conversation like this will be a great opportunity for you to share times when you have had to demonstrate self-control in your life. Thank you for supporting us as we continue to address important social-emotional topics with our young learners.
As always, if you have any questions or feedback, feel free to call or email us. Enjoy the upcoming long weekend and we'll see everyone on Tuesday morning!
Sincerely,
Robert Candillo
