Pancake Tuesday
What a busy week at Kawartha Heights! On Tuesday, Mrs. Hansen's class celebrated Pancake Day by writing the procedure to make pancakes and then following their instructions. The best part, was they then shared with Mrs. Sampson!

Some important information for this week....
Safety Plans
Thanks to everyone for your input on Safety Plans. They have now all been revised and I have provided each of you with updated personal copies and also put them in the OT binders. A reminder to please read through and be aware of the necessary actions required to support some of our higher needs students at all times.
Supporting Students with Needs
We continue to hold Case Conferences with parents of students with special needs. We are also spending much time working to create, revise and review IEP's, Safety Plans and Positive Behaviour Plans for each of these students. If you have a family you'd like to meet with due to concerns, please let me know. As always - if there are academic, social, or emotional issues you're worried about with students in your class, please make sure we are aware so that our amazing support staff team can problem solve how to help everyone move forward.
Support Staff Allocations for 2020/2021
We will soon be heading into the support staff allocations for 2020/2021. This process includes a thorough review of all the data we've been collecting (I'll be taking this on and creating summaries of each student), and then formally presenting all our information to the Special Education department for review. Thank you for all that you've done and continue to do to keep notes, checklists and data for social/emotional/behavioural bumps along the way. I'll be collecting all the purple binders before March break so I can begin the task of creating our summaries and presentation.
Merry Christmas.....In March!
I know several of you have had the opportunity to work with Michelle Fenn....and many more are hoping for the same opportunity. There have been some requests to purchase resources to be able to begin incorporating coding and technology into our math/science/technology programs. SO....I've been looking at budget recently and given that we have been unable to use the money we normally would for PLC's, I've decided to go ahead and purchase 12 Spheros for our school. Not sure what these are?! Not to worry! We can find more time for Michelle to work with different classes, and we're starting to get some in-house experts as well..... Hopefully they'll be here soon and we can get up and running.
Hot Lunch
As you may have heard, Kawartha Heights will now be offering hot lunches twice a week - Subway every Monday and Boston Pizza every Thursday. Please feel free to order your own lunch too!
Equity and Diversity Calendar
Please see the information below regarding requests for submissions for the Equity and Diversity Calendar for 2020/2021. Let me know if you're interested in submitting something on behalf of our school.
Upcoming dates to keep in mind
March 9th - Glenda coming in for Tech Trial check-ins
March 12th - The Big Crunch
March 13th - March Break begins
