New Faces at SHS

We were so saddened to say farewell to Mrs. Sheila Anliot Gaertner, one of our counselors, who moved to Texas at the end of December. However, we are thrilled to have Mrs. Maggie Fields, who currently teaches social studies, transition to fill that position in January. We are also excited to welcome Mr. Tom Huddleston, a recent APSU graduate, to the social studies department. Another new addition to the War Eagle family is Mrs. Kortney Nichols who will be teaching biology and physical science. Finally, Mrs. Kim Crosby will be our new registrar/attendance secretary, replacing Mrs. Janeen Harris who transferred to ECES at the end of December.

Blaine McIntosh Visit

In December, Blaine McIntosh, a 2019 SHS graduate, made a surprise visit and gave a generous donation to the War Eagle Baseball team. As you might recall, the New York Mets selected Blaine in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this year. We are so proud of his success and thankful for his generosity!

Holiday Fundraisers

On December 12, the art department held a holiday ornaments sale and sold handmade ornaments to help raise funds for their department. The Helping Eagles Club also sold Christmas cookies to raise money for their clothes closet to help students who may not have the clothes they need. They were able to raise almost $200 in cookie sales, and the art department raised

The Helping Eagles are still looking for gently used clothing of all sizes for the closet, and they will be accepting donations through January 31. Thank you to everyone who supported these fundraisers as they came to the choir concert that same night.

SHS Choir Performance

Sycamore High School Choir, along with the HMS and SMS choirs, did a fantastic job performing at the Cheatham County Courthouse event in Ashland City. The Cheatham County School District was proud to be one of the sponsors of the event, which also featured refreshments, a toy drive organized by Valerie Kemp, and a visit from Santa Claus.
