BreakoutEDU!

Embracing the 4 Cs for Grades 6-8 Social Studies Teachers

The Southern Indiana Education Center welcomes Tricia Hall, North Knox Curriculum Director, as she leads this session featuring an innovative toolkit called Breakout Edu. This is a challenging, highly-interactive activity/game which requires participants to embrace or experience the 4 Cs- collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity. Participants will learn how this activity:

  • engages individuals with higher-order thinking and collaboration.
  • involves using teamwork and different perspectives to solve a problem.
  • requires hands-on learning using technology.
  • requires participants to use necessary skills to function in the real world.

The types of content that can be included in a BreakoutEdu game are endless! One of the games found on the BreakoutEdu website will be demonstrated during the session and all participants will be involved. Workshop participants will also use this opportunity to collaborate to write and develop their own game. For even more information, click here.

As part of the registration fee, each participant will received their own BreakoutEDU kit to take home and use in their own classroom. We hope you can join us for this fun and engaging professional learning session!
