Monday Morning Memo - Week 37
6/2/19
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Support Friday
Thank you to all the staff members that responded to the needs of the building this past Friday. I have to admit, I was extremely nervous once laying my eyes on our absentee report sent out by Cindy and was wondering how we were going to make it through the day. Thankfully, we have incredible staff members that are willing to step up as needed to ensure we meet the needs of the children we have been entrusted with. Thank you!!!!
Student Placement Cards
At tomorrows PLC, we will have time to complete and sort through student placement cards depending on where you are at individually and as a team. Please keep in mind that our goal is to create heterogeneous classrooms, not to place students with specific classroom teachers.
This week, I would like to meet with each team during their planning time to review their class placements for the upcoming school year. Please schedule a time with me tomorrow morning while we're in the library.
By Friday, June 7th, I need the following items from each team working on grade level assignments:
- Google Doc with Class Lists
- Completed Student Placement Cards
- Scheduled meeting during common planning time to review class lists
Our last PLC of the year is allotted for you to be able to work on report cards as we come to a close of the 18-19 school year.
End of Year Eval Meetings
I will be sending calendar invites for EOY Evaluation and future goal setting meetings to all teachers. Please be sure to update your evaluation document with all the necessary information in green prior to our meeting (goals, reflections, student progress). During the meeting, we will analyze your student progress and set future growth goals. Please be sure to have your student data in hand for us to review.

Michigan Department of Civil Rights to Hold Listening Sessions on Reconfiguration
The Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR) will hold four listening sessions in the coming weeks to hear from Grosse Pointe residents on the planned reconfiguration of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools System. Parents and members of the GPPSS community are encouraged to attend.
North end sessions will be held on the following date:
- Tuesday, 6/4/19:
- 9 am to 12 noon in the North High School Performing Arts Center (PAC), 707 Vernier, Grosse Pointe Woods;
- 4 pm to 7 pm at the Monteith Elementary Gymnasium, 1275 Cook Road, Grosse Pointe Woods.
At the sessions, individuals will be asked to share their perspective on the reconfiguration process to ensure all voices in the GPPSS community are heard. Speaking time may be limited. Follow-up questions may be asked by MDCR Director Agustin V. Arbulu.
Written statements may also be submitted at the listening sessions or sent by email to MCRC-Comments@michigan.gov no later than 7 p.m., June 4, 2019. Written statements must include a name, address and telephone number or email address.
Locations are accessible. Sign language interpreters will be available. If you need an accommodation to attend, please contact Jackie Debusschere by 9 am Tuesday, May 28 at DebusschereJ@michigan.gov.
The listening sessions are being facilitated in partnership with Wayne RESA. GPPSS is providing the locations.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
Your Fan,
Ali

Title 1 Orders (updated)
I'm sorry to announce that our Title 1 orders were delayed due to a processing issue. The issue has been resolved and the orders will sporadically be delivered starting in the middle of may through end of June. I truly appreciate your patience in receiving these tools!
Behavior Referrals
Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
