MESSAGE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
The Health Office has been very busy right away this school year. We are averaging 100 students in the Health Office each day.
Please utilize the simple first aid packs left in your mailbox at the beginning of the year.
A few reminders:
· Small cuts with little blood can be taken care of in the classroom– Students can use the restroom to wash area with soap and water, then get a bandage from teacher.
· Nosebleeds that are no longer actively bleeding – students can clean self in restroom – Please remind them to wash their hands. **Active nosebleeds - Please have student apply pressure to nose by pinching nose with a tissue. If dripping, please send with a wastebasket to catch any drips.
· “I feel like throwing up” Nausea/Vomiting – ALWAYS send with a wastebasket.
· Runny/Stuffy Nose – Please encourage students to drink more water. We can do a temp check but there is not a lot we can do unless they are really miserable. If you feel that the student is struggling, please send an email or call us to let us know.
· The Health Office does not supply medications of any kind. Per School Board Policy 516 medications must be provided by parents with the proper Authorization form signed.
If you have signed a pass for the student and it is not an emergency – you do not need to call us to let us know they are coming. A pass is sufficient.
Please DO call us in an EMERGENT situation –
o “This is (your name). (Student’s name) is (name the emergency). We are in Room (###).
Emergent situations are Life Threatening/conditions named in a student’s Emergency Care Plan.

I was born and raised in Rochester. I attended Franklin, Willow, and Mayo. After graduating high school, I went to Winona State and graduated with a double major in Sociology and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 2013.
I am starting my second year teaching at JA. Before JA, I taught English for two years at an all boys middle school in Busan, South Korea. Before Korea, I taught EL in Worthington, MN for two years. All of my teaching jobs have been very different from one another, so I’m glad to feel a bit settled at JA.
I enjoy taking care of my many (indoor and outdoor) plants, traveling, photography, making pottery, and spending time with my 91 year old grandpa...and other family members ;)
