Remember, You are Loved…Happy Valentine’s Day!
“Mrs. Boehm, what’s your favourite animal? I hope it’s a parrot because I made you a Valentine with a parrot!”
Of course I love parrots and bears and turtles and the beautiful impressionist drawing yet to be determined... I love each one because of the care and love that was taken to be remembered and valued. I am certain that many parents ran around Walmart or the Dollar store helping your child pick out that box of very special Valentines or perhaps you helped with materials from home to glitter, glue, and create. As your child took the time to write each name on a tiny valentine and remembered the value of that peer or teacher or principal, our elementary children remind us of the importance of acceptance and inclusion. They wrote each name simply because they know-without question-that each person belongs and has value.
At the end of announcements every day, the last thing our students hear is, “Remember you are loved”. It is simple and yet, important, that each of our students has a daily reminder that they are welcome, belong, valued, and most importantly, loved. We recognize that, as parents, every day you send us your most precious gifts and we respond with joy and hope in the good work we do together.
We “love” each day, not just on Valentine’s Day but each day, because this is how we are called to love. God’s love letter to us didn’t come with a parrot or a box of hearts but in and through His son, Jesus, who showed us how to love one another.
Blessings,
Mrs. Boehm
We LOVE to Read...Who was it? Who will it be?
This week our Mystery Reader was Mrs Schaub. Music teacher, who shared a favourite library story about how all are welcome and of course, she sang a snippet of it!
See if you can guess who next year's first Mystery Reader is?
