Principal G's Message
Spring showers (and snow) brings May flowers. I can't believe that we have made it to May already. It has been such a treat to see our young people slowly transition into some normalcy around being an adolescent. We are seeing more interacting, laughing, and kindness as they remember what it is like to fully experience the wonders of middle school. Our 8th graders are leading with grace and empathy, while our 6th and 7th graders continue to grow and become our community legacy holders. Thank you again for sharing your best with us every day!
The end of the year is coming into clearer focus as we plan and celebrate a year well done. Originally we had planned an evening event for our 8th graders on May 14th, but our student leadership group has decided to invest all of our end of the year resources to have a full day of fun on Thursday, May 27th (last day of school). We want to thank our 8th grade leadership group for their time and input in making the end of the year special for the Class of 2025!
Our teachers and students are also planning end of the year celebrations with 6th and 7th grade classes. These celebration days will be the last week of school as well. No worries, all of our year end celebrations will continue to be with overlapping safety protocols to ensure our students safety. Appreciate your support!
Aurora Scholar Recipients
Honoring the Students of Aurora
Since 2009, the city of Aurora has honored one student from each grade in every school building in Aurora in a citywide ceremony with the city's mayor and city council, school superintendents and other designees. Students receive a certificate and gifts donated by the community.
Students in grades 1 through 12 are selected by the principal and teachers at their school for being overall first-rate students and excellent members of the school community. The program is designed to identify those students in Aurora who strongly contribute to the life and community of their respective schools. They might be a stellar student-athlete, a terrific citizen, a high academic achiever, or a dedicated volunteer. But most importantly, they go above and beyond in whatever they do best.
It's an opportunity for the city of Aurora, schools, and families to come together to celebrate the achievements of Aurora's future leaders. More than 450 students each year in Aurora Public Schools, Cherry Creek Schools, and charter, parochial and private schools are honored annually through the Aurora Scholars program.
Congratulations to Lydia Asnake - 6th Grade, Brooklyn Rush - 7th Grade, and Andres Becerra Lopez - 8th Grade for representing our community this year as our Aurora Scholars. Go Huskies!
Please also see the list of all students below receiving recognition for this year and special shout-out to those future Huskies at Cimmaron, Sunrise, Arrowhead, and Summit!
