PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES COMING UP!

Principal's Corner

Happy December!

It's a busy time of year at Moriarty Magnet School. Less than two weeks ago we gathered on the back field to run/trot/walk laps for our Second Annual Turkey Trot! Believe it or not, we raised nearly $5000 toward our new track. Thank you to all of you for your generous monetary donations, your time, and your support. This event wouldn't have been possible with the support of our families or the leadership and efforts of our Wellness Committee, chaired by our wonderful nurse, Mrs. Tramontozzi.

This coming week we look forward to welcoming you to our parent-teacher conferences. We truly value you as partners in our students' education! If you have not yet scheduled a time with your child's teacher, please contact our school office.

Our PTO has brought back our fall book fair, which will be open for browsing and sales during conferences. Many thanks to Kim Larson and Melissa Arpin for setting it up this past Friday. The selection of books (and other goodies) is extensive--be sure to see the pictures below.

Finally, mark your calendars for our very first Moriarty Show Choir concert! It's scheduled for Tuesday, December 15th, at 6 pm. Our choir members, led by Mr. Varella, are sure to impress you with their musical talents and energy!

As always, I thank you for your continued support of Moriarty. I look forward to seeing you this coming week.

Best,

Becky Pellerin

Book Fair Takes Place Week of December 7th (Open for Shopping During Conferences)

Lost and Found & School Uniform Exchange

Please stop by our Lost and Found, which will be located in the lobby during Parent-Teacher Conferences. There are many sweaters, jackets, hats, and winter coats waiting to be reclaimed by their owners! All unclaimed items will be donated to charity before winter break starts on December 23rd.

Our Moriarty Monarch Uniform Exchange will be open during conferences as well in our lobby. Gently used, clean uniform pants and shirts will be accepted. If your child is outgrowing his/her uniform, this is a great opportunity to buy very inexpensive replacement items or make exchanges. Thank you to Mrs. Tram and Mrs. Topping for organizing this market!

Moriarty Show Choir Winter Concert--December 15th, 6:00 pm

Join us for the Moriarty Show Choir Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 15th at 6:00 pm! This event will be held on the Moriarty stage after a brief PTO meeting. The Moriarty Show Choir is made up of hard working and talented 4th and 5th grade students who volunteered their time to prepare a show for family and friends. Watch and listen as they share their collaborations of song, rhythm, and dance!

A safety request from our office:

Dismissal time gets very busy, and we want to make sure that every child gets home safely, whether it's on the bus or through parent pick-up. For this reason we respectfully ask that all requests are received by the office no later than 2:30 pm. If you want to change your child's dismissal procedure, please send a signed note with your child or call before 2:30 pm. Thank you for helping us keep all of our students safe!

Moriarty's Second Annual Turkey Trot Was a Huge Success!

Walk-to-School Day

On October 7th Moriarty staff and students walked to school to celebrate International

Walk-to-School Day. Both staff and students alike had fun walking to school and the energy was contagious! Moriarty staff cheered when students got off their buses, celebrating their arrival. Officer O'Reilly from the Norwich Police Department also helped get the students off the buses and walked with the students as well. The students walked up Caribou Drive and through a student walking path leading to Moriarty. Moriarty walked to help promote a cleaner environment and healthier habits and, of course, simply because it's fun!
