The Printing Press (who)

One of the biggest impacts in history was the invention of the printing press, made by Johann Gutenberg.


The printing press was made with the combination with these main elements which is movable type, wine type press, paper and oil based ink, Gutenberg made printing a huge impact in history. Gutenberg would use metal type molds for the letters, and set one by one on the pages which were held together by a wooden frame.

Johannnes Gutenberg created his printing press in 1440, a hand press, "in which ink was rolled over the raised surfaces of moveable hand-set block letters held within a wooden form and the form was then pressed against a sheet of paper."


The invention of the printing press was made in Mainz, Germany.


Around the late 1430s Gutenberg was quite desperate to make some money. They made a early form of printing in the 1300s between the 1400s. Gutenberg wanted to make a more improved and faster printing process. Andreas Dritzehn, Johannes partner made a lawsuit against Gutenberg to be made partners to invent the printing press.
