Martell Monitor
Volume 1: Week 27 March 7, 2019
Dear Martell Families,
Dear Families,
Martell was a host school to teachers and administrators that came to visit Troy and learn about the deep learning we involve students in. It was a very successful visit and we received very positive feedback.
March is Reading Month is in full swing! We look forward to our students meeting the challenge we have set for them! There will be a fun reward if they make it!!
Please remember there is no school tomorrow, Friday, March 8 as teachers will be preparing report cards. Have a great weekend!
In Partnership,
Michelle Barsh

To the parents of 5th grade...
Please see the following requests from our DVD/Memory Book Chairs...
In preparation for these events, we will be asking for the following 4 items:
A baby picture of your child to be included in the video during the ceremony.
Please email it to Martell5thGradePromoPics@gmail.com
A picture of your child from their 1st day of kindergarten or around that time. This will also be used in the video.
Please also email it to Martell5thGradePromoPics@gmail.com
Group photos of 4 or more 5th graders you may have taken over the years. They can be from sports teams, scouting, or any other event as long as they are all 5th grade classmates. Please also email those to Martell5thGradePromoPics@gmail.com .
A letter to your child that will be included in your child’s copy of the class memory book. It should be on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper leaving a ½ inch margin free on all sides. This letter will be for YOUR child only, so feel free to make it as personal and creative as you desire. Some suggestions for this letter can be how proud you are of your child, words of wisdom for the future, or anything else you feel would be special for your student to re-read down the road.
Please email the letter to Martell5thGradePromoPics@gmail.com as well, or send it in a large envelope to school labeled with you name, your child’s first and last name, their teacher’s name, and in attention to Sarah Williams. DO NOT FOLD THE LETTER. Please make an effort to write this letter. It will be a very special keepsake for your child.
** If you do not have a scanner or an electronic copy of these pictures above, please send them into school with your child in a large envelope or zip lock bag labeled with your name, their first and last name, their teacher’s name, and in attention to Ranya Shamoun. I will return these photos after I have scanned them in for the video. You are welcome to drop them off at my house too. My contact info is below if you would like to do that.
PLEASE SUBMIT ALL ITEMS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - NO LATER THAN MARCH 15, 2019
Thank you all so much for helping to make the 5th grade promotion a special day for your child. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email us.
