FHS Color Guard Newsletter
March 2019
Director's Note:
Parents, Guardians, and Students:
First and foremost, thank you again for your help and support in making our MCCGA Festival a success. Directors from the circuit were raving about how friendly, well prepared, and energetic that you all were. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Secondly, even though it feels like we have just started, we only have one month left of competition before the end of our season! With Spring Break, this means we only have six rehearsals left for each team before championships. Please make sure you are doing your best to stay well and attend each rehearsal, as they will all be crucial!
As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
Now, let's push to the finish and go out with a bang!
-Mr. A.

March Dates (all teams)
Friday, March 1st - Solo Performances in Class
Class members will perform their student created solos and ensembles for a grade. Members performing at the Solo & Ensemble event on Saturday, March 2nd will use this time as a rough draft/dress rehearsal for the competition.
Saturday, March 2nd - Solo & Ensemble
Only performers who are competing need to attend this event. We will begin practice runs at 3:00 on stage, with performances beginning at 3:40. Students may leave once they have performed. Results will be announced via e-mail and awards will be presented at En Guard on April 2nd.
Saturday, March 9th - WGI Springfield Regional - All Day
Students will compete at our only National competition of the season at the WGI Springfield Regional. A detailed itinerary is available below, and on Google Classroom. Please note that this festival is prelims and finals format and will be a lengthy day. Cost for admission is also higher with Prelims and Finals set at $15 each, or a combo ticket for $23 and will be Cash or Check only, according to the WGI Website.
Please note: due to the length of the day on the 9th, we will not be having a friends and family performance on the 8th. Eminence will still rehearse, but it will be a closed rehearsal.
March 18th - 22nd - Spring Break. No Rehearsals.
No rehearsal this week. Please practice as you have availability so the following week can be spent taking section reps and runthroughs in rehearsals.
Monday, March 25th - Championship Schedule Posted
Because the last show for our circuit is being held on Saturday, the 23rd, our championships performance times will not be released until the 25th. There are a large number of possibilities, but I will send this out as soon as I am able to get the schedule compiled.
Friday, March 29th - Possible Friends & Family Show - 8:00 p.m.
Depending on our performance times, we may or may not have a Championships send off performance. Championships will be a long day, similar to WGI Springfield, so we will do our best to make sure students are rested and prepared for our last competition.
Saturday, March 30th - MCCGA Championships
Championships will be our last contest of the season, and by far the biggest event we attend. This event is so big that it is held at three different locations, all in the Springfield, MO area. Regent will perform at Nixa High School, Imperial will be at Ozark High School, and Eminence will be at Willard High School. If necessary, we will take multiple buses to accommodate performance schedules, but will not know this information until the Monday before Champs. There will be a higher cost of admission for Championships than our other circuit shows, but spectators do not need to buy more than one admission to attend each site.
Friday, April 12th - En Guard Celebration
Our final performance of the 2019 programs will be at our end of year celebration in the Bulldog Arena on the 12th. This is a required performance and will be our senior recognition night and awards presentation. Belinda and Joe from bjohnsonphotograpy will be on hand to capture group and individual photos as we wrap up our season. More information about this date, and our last few rehearsals will be released in the April Newsletter.
