Davis Elementary School

Welcome Back, Yellow Jackets!

School starts on Thursday, August 13th! Our doors will open at 7:20 and students will report to their classroom for breakfast. Our teachers have arranged the classrooms to maintain a 3-6 foot distance when feasible. We have also created partitions for our small group areas and made visual markers of where to stand in the hallways and where to sit in the cafeteria. Our Pre-K-2nd grade classrooms will be served by a teacher in their 'families' in order to limit their exposure to large groups of people. Our 3rd-5th grade students will still be served by two content area teachers but the teachers will mobilize to the next classroom rather than the students moving throughout the hallways. Students will still enjoy recess, Physical Education, library, and music classes for specials. Our 3rd-5th grade students will also receive a segment of art education every other Friday!

We are encouraging everyone to bring a mask for times of transitions and small group instruction. If your student needs a mask please let us know as we have plenty that were donated by GEMA and our local officials. Our staff will be wearing PPE to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We want our students to have face to face instruction as long as possible so please discuss the importance of wearing a mask with your child. We have also ordered lanyards to help keep your student's mask with them at all times.

Welcome, Nurse Cindy! Our new nurse will be on campus five days a week to serve our students! We appreciate our School Board for ensuring that each school in Dade County has a full-time nurse.

We are doing all that we can to protect our students and staff as we embark on making history together! Please contact me if you have more questions about how we are addressing these unique times.

Charity Barton, Principal

Bus Riders

Bus riders will be required to wear a mask on the bus at all times. Our transportation department needs parents to register each child that will be riding the bus in order to determine the new bus routes. We will message our Davis parents this week to let you know which bus will serve your area. We will not have an elementary bus and then a middle/high bus. Your entire household will ride the same bus no matter the students' grade levels.

Virtual School Students

Parents may now pick up a Chromebook from Davis Elementary after signing an usage agreement. We are open Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00. Our virtual platform is SchoolsPLP. We will have more information about how to use this program this week. Remember our virtual students will not be in contact with our classroom teachers. This is a stand alone program unlike our digital learning last spring. For more information about virtual school please email
