Bencik's Buzz

Our bingo night was one of the biggest events attended yet! Thank you to the PTA for all of the hard work to get the event together.


Please remember that students will be able to dress in costumes on Friday for the half day for the parade and classroom parties.


As the weather is changing, please remember to send your children with coats and hats. We will be going out for recess if the weather is 32 degrees or above.

IAR Results

Our students in grades 3-5, will be receiving a hard copy of their state testing reports in their folders this week. Please take some time to review the information. If you have any questions, please reach out and we can assist you.

Cheesecake orders

Today, October 26th is Cheesecake pick up! Come to the MPR room to pick these delicious treats up! We will be distributing between 2:30pm and 4:00pm.

Music Boosters

Our music boosters are hosting a fundraiser at Big Joe's on Wednesday, October 27th. Please see the attached flyer.

D123 PTA Fundraiser

Our D123 PTA is hosting a fundraiser for the scholarships they award students of the district. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

October 29th

Please remember that Friday is a HALF DAY of school. Students should be picked up at 11:30am.

Halloween

We are looking forward to our Halloween festivities on Friday, October 29th. Students will be allowed to dress up for the morning as it is a half day of attendance. We ask that students do not bring weapons. Please also make sure your child can move freely in their costume and are able to safely get on and off the bus if your child is a bus rider. We will conduct a parade weather permitting. The parade will begin around 9:30am. The class parties will start between 10:00am-10:15am depending on the parade time. Please read the attached for details.

Lost and Found

As we see students bringing extra clothes with them to stay warm, we are also seeing our lost and found grow. If your child has lost a jacket or sweatshirt, please reach out to have us check the lost and found.

Water bottles and Masks

Please make sure your child has extra masks with them for the day. Also, we will not be supplying water bottles to students moving forward. If your child would like to bring a water bottle from home they may do so. Our water fountains are up and running and they can refill their bottles.

Tacos and Trivia

The Tacos and Trivia event will take place on November 12th. Tickets are $25.00 a person or a table of 10 is $250. Please use the links to sign up.

Meet Our Staff

Every week we will shine a spotlight on one of our own amazing staff members. Meet Mrs. Lydia Heyboer!


How long and what grades have you taught?

This is my third year teaching! I have taught Kindergarten through second grade special education.


If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Greece has been on the top of my travel list for years! I have never traveled internationally, and I have always loved seeing pictures of the bright white and blue architecture next to the clear water.


What is the best thing about working at Hometown?

The best thing about working at Hometown are my coworkers! They make the hard days better and always help problem-solve in a pinch.


What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is my mom's lasagna!


Who is someone you admire and why?


I admire my mom. She is one of the strongest people I know, always persevering and trusting through difficult circumstances.
