I want to provide information on several topics today.
First, student birthday celebrations – Students are welcome to bring individually packaged treats to school to celebrate their birthday. The treat must be purchased in individual packages, not packaged at home. Students bring the treat, and the teacher takes a few moments to recognize the student. It is fun to celebrate with others in our learning communities! Ensuring that treats are individually packaged keeps it safe. Please do not have anything delivered to the school. We are not able to accept deliveries for students of food, bouquets, or any other item.
Visitors and Volunteers – Columbia Public Schools has created a distinction between school visitors and school volunteers. The district Community Relations department is revising the background check process for school volunteers. When forms are available, we will let you know. At Ridgeway, when visitors come to drop of student items, speak with the nurse, etc., we are greeting them at the front door to limit traffic between the front door and the office.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to review information from Ridgeway in our RAP this week. I am looking forward to a long weekend with plans to read and relax. One of my favorite hobbies is reading. I hope you find time over the next few days to do something fun with your family that you enjoy!

Unit C
Unit C is off to a fantastic start! We would like to encourage families to have discussions at home about the “To-Do” list in their Home-School Folder. Signing the To-Do list doesn’t mean it has been completed, only that you are having conversations about schoolwork.
