Longacre August Update
August 7, 2020
Dear Longacre Families,
I hope that you and your family are well and enjoying the summer months as much as possible. This summer has certainly been a very different one for all of us and I hope you have had time to recuperate and enjoy time with your family. As a parent myself, I understand that you may have many questions about what school will look like this fall. I want to assure you that all of us at Longacre are here to support you and your child's social emotional and educational needs.
Since the last day of school in June, we have been working hard to plan for the 2020-21 school year. The district has provided frequent communication to families throughout the summer months which have highlighted progress made among the 7 district leadership planning teams; Governance, Instruction, Wellness, Technology, Post Secondary, School Operations and Facilities. As a member of several of these work groups, I have experienced firsthand the collaborative efforts across our district to develop robust educational plans that ensure the health and safety of our students, staff and families.
In the upcoming weeks, I will provide specific information to you regarding the connection between our Learning at a Distance instructional model and Canvas; the district's newly adopted Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas is a tool that will enable us to enhance instructional practices and provides more features than Google Classroom for teachers, students, and parents. For more specific LMS information please click on this link that was shared by FPS last week: Prior LMS Parent Communication
Please look for a communication from me on Wednesday, August 12th. In addition, I will be hosting a virtual parent meeting during the week of August 17th to provide more information on our LMS and answer questions you may have.
If you have an incoming kindergartener who needs to be enrolled, please click here to complete the FPS pre-enrollment and upload the necessary documents. Feel free to contact Jennifer Crager at Jennifer.crager@fpsk12.net if you have any questions regarding enrollment.
I look forward to reconnecting with you very soon! Until then, please feel free to contact me via email at rhonda.henry@fpsk12.net should you have any questions or need clarification.
With Longacre Pride,
Rhonda Henry, Principal
