A Message from the Superintendent

Over this past year, STEM has worked relentlessly to ensure a safe instructional environment for our students and staff. The COVID numbers here at STEM and in our community have significantly decreased. With the progress in the community, STEM is confident that we can provide a healthy and safe environment for all our students to return full-time for the 2021-2022 school year.

For the 2021-2022 school year STEM will not be offering remote or hybrid learning options, please make plans to have your student attend school daily starting August 10, 2021! Our learning day hours will remain Monday-Thursday 7:50-2:15pm and Friday 7:50-12pm.

At this time there have not been any decisions made regarding face masks for the 2021-2022 school year. STEM will follow all health guidelines set by UTPB and TEA. Please continue to look for STEM communication throughout the summer with new information for the upcoming school year.

It has been a pleasure to serve this community! I am honored every day to work with talented educators and amazing students who continue to make me laugh and smile. Thank you for being strong supporters of STEM!

I Love U Guys

Our school has adopted The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Students and staff will be training, practicing, and drilling the protocol. The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on an all hazards approach as opposed to individual scenarios. Please take a few minutes to review the Standard Response Protocols (click link below) and our Standard Reunification Method (click link below).

Secondary Updates

Dear MS/HS Parents,

The year has absolutely flown by. We hope that the worst of COVID is behind us and next year will be a much better year. We appreciate all the support our parents have given to our team. Thank you.

The rest of the month is full of activities both big and small. State testing window is upon us. These exams are just as important as ever for our campus. Please make sure that students are attending their assigned test days. We will also have semester exams knocking at the door shortly. You will find in this newsletter the semester exam schedule for all MS/HS students. We also have our MS/HS awards on May 21. We will try to notify all parents ahead of time if your son/daughter will be receiving an award. The ceremony will occur at the Mesa building.

Our biggest event this month will of course be our Senior graduation. Seniors should be paying very close attention to announcements.

· May 14 is our top 5 breakfast

· May 21 is our Senior meeting with Mrs. Miller.

· May 27 is our Senior Sunset activity at Stonehenge.

· May 28 Lunch cookout and graduation

I hope all of our students are able to have a restful & wonderful summer break.

Elementary Updates

Dear STEM Family,

It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of the school year. And what a year it has been! Through the challenges of COVID and online learning, you were there, partnering with us and ensuring that your child received the best education possible. Thank you!

As we enter our final weeks of school, let's keep the momentum going. Next week we have reading, math, and science STAAR exams. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest and has a good breakfast. Field Day, Awards Ceremonies, and our Kinder Celebration are all coming up during the last week of school. If you are interested in volunteering at Field Day, please contact your child's homeroom teacher. Please look at the attached flyers with grade levels and times for all events. Thank you for an incredible year!

Best Regards,

Congratulations, Ms. Williamson!

On March 2, 2021, Ms. Williamson was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award from the Aaron Estes Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas for excellence in teaching Texas history. As recipient of this prestigious award, Ms. Williamson's endorsement has been submitted to the state level for the final round of judging. Ms. Williamson received her award, a framed Texas map, and other items for the classroom at the Annual Toast to Texas at the Haley Library and Research Center. In addition, Ms. Williamson will have access to the chapter's Travelling History Trunk. The trunk contains dozens of hands-on history items that help bring history alive. Join me in congratulating our very own Ms. Williamson!
