Kindergarten Newsletter ACES
Week Of April 29th
Highlights from last week....
It was a super busy week! Our 3rd and 4th grade friends had MCAS testing, so we worked on walking silently in the hall ways. We also finished up our published book and sent it to the publisher. The children worked REALLY hard to create a masterpiece!!!
In ELA, we learned about how we could help out at home. We learned about silent e and the long A vowel sound. Our sight words of the week were help and too.
In Math, we began our unit on teen numbers. The children are really getting the hang of it!
A peek at our learning this week....
This week our class will be reading stories about how children can be good citizens. They will learn how to listen, share, help others, respect one another, work together, and take turns.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.
- Vocabulary: citizen, respect Discuss ways your child can show good citizenship and respect for others at school and in the community.
- My Words to Know
High-Frequency Words: play, has Write the words play and has on paper. Then have your child write each word. Think of sentences about good citizens that include each word. Write down the sentences on paper.
Category Words: farm animals During the week, your child will read about farm animals. Reinforce farm animal names by singing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.”
Phonics: long i Use magnetic letters to build words with the long i sound, or you can use pencil and paper to do the activity.
In Math, we will continue our unit on teen numbers.

Hat day was a success! Thank you to those who donated for such a great cause, we truly have an amazing class and school!
I am so proud of all the hard work your children put in! Thank you for all you do and have a great week!
A Note from Mrs. Maillet
We had a busy week! We came back from vacation super excited! We needed to revisit the classroom and recess rules to make sure we didn't forget them over vacation. Please remind your children to always be kind and respectful to friends and adults at school. We talk about it frequently here, but a reminder from home is always helpful. Thank you!
We implemented a Worker of the Week award in our classroom. The winner wears a championship belt for the day. The recipient of the award works hard all week, makes great choices inside and outside the classroom and is kind to all classmates. This week the award went to ELI. Great job ELI!!!!
Thank you for all that you do!!!
A Note from Mrs. Webb
