The mission of Loveland elementary school, in partnership with our actively involved community, is to promote excellence and instill a desire for learning by challenging each individual within a safe, supportive environment.
Loveland's Expectations
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Dear Loveland Families,
I cannot believe it's September. Students and staff have been busy building relationships, establishing expectations, and learning new content. From the first day of school, teachers and students have been working extremely hard. I cannot thank students, parents, and staff enough for everyone’s hard work. Have a wonderful long weekend and enjoy the nice weather.
Ms. Hornung

The Homecoming Parade will begin at 1:30 using our traditional route throughout the neighborhood by Westside High School.
- Exit East/Main Parking Lot (turning right) and proceeding south on 85th Avenue to Hickory Street; turn right (west) on Hickory Street and head West to 88th Street; turn right on to 88th Street and head North to William Street. Parade Ends at 88th and William Street (entry to South Student Parking Lot).
- The Pep Rally will take place at the football field at approximately 2:30 after the parade ends back on campus.
- Club66 will be open from this early dismissal time through normal operational hours at all sites.
** We hope we will have a large crowd that is able to join us for the Parade and Pep Rally. We look forward to returning to our normal Wednesday evening events during next year’s Homecoming when we anticipate having more scheduling flexibility.
WHS Football Games
We want to ensure families and students know the rules, to ensure the safety of all involved. While we welcome all students at our Westside High Football Games,
All elementary students attending the game will need to attend the game with a parent and sit with a parent.
No footballs or other balls are allowed in the stadium.
Students who do not follow these rules will be asked to leave. Thank you for your help to make sure our game atmosphere is positive for all who attend!
A MESSAGE FROM THE LOVELAND COMMUNITY CLUB
We are excited to see everyone at Loveland's upcoming Curriculum Night on September 8th. The community club will meet downstairs in the gym from 6:30-6:45 between the two academic sessions. At that time, we would like to introduce the executive committee, relay information about this year's events and approve our budget.
Also, parents of Loveland are welcome to join and mingle with other Loveland parents for conversation and spirits at the Red Eye following Curriculum Night.
Please take a look at the attached sign up genius. This lists a few events as well as class parties that you can become involved in and volunteer for.
Thank you,
Loveland Community Club
Operation School Bell and Friday Bags
There are two opportunities for families that I would like you to be aware of at this time: Operation School Bell and Friday Bags.
Operation School Bell is a shopping opportunity at JCPenney at the Westroads. Families who participate are provided with a voucher and can shop and choose clothing for their children on an assigned evening. This can be very helpful for back to school shopping! Every school is given a set number of open spaces. I still have a small number of openings, so please contact Mrs. Gnader if you are interested as participation is limited.
“Friday bags” will begin on September 6. These are packs delivered by the Food Bank; students bring home the packs for the weekend each Friday. The packs include non-perishable meals (two breakfasts and two lunches or dinners). If we do not have school on a Friday, packs will come home on the last school day of the week. Students who have participated in the past can start bringing the bags home Friday, September 9, 2022. If you would be interested in receiving the bags and have not in the past, please contact Mrs. Gnader.
As the winter holiday season draws near, there will be more opportunities for assistance. Please contact Mrs. Gnader if you are interested in any of these programs. Your participation in all of these programs are confidential.
You can reach Mrs. Gnader at gnader.courtenay@westside66.net or 402-408-8868.
Loveland Curriculum Night
Curriculum night will be held on Thursday, September 8th from 6-7:15 pm. Curriculum night is designed to inform you about your child's academic and social expectations at Loveland. Your involvement in our partnership is very important, and we hope to see you on September 8th.
6-6:30 pm - Class Presentation
6:35 - Community Club meeting in the gym
6:45-7:15 pm - Class Presentation
Items From Home
Students should not bring items from home for recess. This includes personal sporting equipment and Pokemon cards. We really appreciate your support on keeping home items at home on school days.
Changing Weather
Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing in the morning. Sweatshirts, fleeces, and lightweight jackets are easy to keep in a backpack in case of cooler temperatures at recess time.
Safe Driving Tips
Please keep in mind the following safety tips when driving in a school zone.
- PUT AWAY YOUR CELL PHONE
- NO TALKING OR TEXTING WHILE DRIVING
- SLOW DOWN
- NO SPEEDING
- OBEY SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMIT SIGNS
- BE ALERT FOR CHILDREN CROSSING THE STREET
- DROP-OFF / PICK-UP CHILDREN IN THE SCHOOL’S DESIGNATED AREAS
Remembering and following these tips will help prevent an accident and ensure both drivers and children are safe.
Keep in Touch
Throughout the year, use these ideas to stay in touch:
• Attend parent/teacher conferences, parents organization meetings, workshops, and special presentations.
• Tell the teacher about any special situations that may affect your child’s success at school - health problems or changes in the family.
• Remember how great you feel when you get a note of thanks? Teachers feel the same way. Send a note to the teacher to express your appreciation. Example: “Thanks for sparking Russ’s interest in reptiles. He’s so excited!”
Lunch Accounts
Please be aware of your child’s lunch account balance. If you need assistance adding money or setting up a MySchoolBucks account, please contact Mrs. Matt. Cash and checks can be sent to school and added to the account at the office.
If you are free and reduced, your status stays for 30 days after school starts. You need to add any new children to your application and reapply each year. Any balances prior to approval are still your balance to be paid. Free and reduced applications are available on our district website under links.

Birthday Treats
Birthday Treats are a special way to celebrate your child with his/her classroom. Birthday treats are not required, but appreciated. They can be consumable or non-consumable. If you choose to bring in food, it must be an approved treat or snack from our District's Healthy Snack List.
Wednesday Dismissal
Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the District collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.
