Mrs. Frantz's Second Grade SMARTIES
A Whole Lotta Learnin'...and a Whole Lotta Fun!
We're in full swing!!
Hello parents! This is my first attempt at an "tech-savvy" version of our weekly newsletter...I figured I'd give it a try! I will be anxious to see what you think!! Let me begin by saying we've had a great start to our school year!!! What sweeties!!! We have a BIG class...but we also have BIG HEARTS! What a kind, caring group! I'm looking forward to a great year!
In Reading, we read the story Iris and Walter, a story about making new friends. We learned about Characters and Setting. The kids also did a great job on their first spelling test reviewing short vowel sounds! New spelling words came home today. Always look for the PURPLE LIST on Fridays!
In Math, we are doing a review of skills covered in First Grade. We will begin Math homework (called Homelinks) next week! Always look for those on BLUE paper! Looking for something to do?? Practice those addition facts!!! A great site to visit is www.abcya.com for fun games to review basic skills!
We also spent a great deal of time talking about how "rules" keep us safe. We spent a lot of time discussing the three basic rules of "The EAGLE Way": 1. Do What's Right 2. Do The Best You Can 3. Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated. If we all work hard to follow those rules at school and home, we are going to have a FANTASTIC year!!
Thank you for taking the time to look over and sign your child's Daily Log Sheet. This keeps us informed and prepared for success everyday!
Reminder: we will have NO SCHOOL Monday 8/3 for Labor Day, and NO SCHOOL 8/4 for Teacher Waiver Day! Enjoy your nice long weekend with your family!!
That's all for now!!!!
Love, Mrs. Frantz :)
