Why should students attend school everyday?

Revisit and create ideas to help aid with reforming attendance procedures for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.

Texas Education Code, Section 25.092(a) states,
“a student in any grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 may not be given credit or a final grade for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered.”
Please note TEC, Section 25.092(a),
does not differentiate between “excused” or “unexcused” absences.
Texas Education Code, Section 25.085
(b) Unless specifically exempted by Section 25.086, a child who is at least six years of age, or who is younger than six years of age and has previously been enrolled in first grade, and who has not yet reached the child's 18th birthday shall attend school.
(e) A person who voluntarily attends school after the person's 18th birthday shall attend school each school day for the entire period the program of instruction is offered.

Purpose:
Collect ideas from all participants to use to create a system for improvement of student attendance.
Instructions
- Get into groups of 2/3.
- Discuss and record ideas for each chart paper.
- You will have 3 minutes then you will rotate to the next chart paper.

- All ideas will be typed onto one document.
- We will meet in one week to discuss how we will incorporate these ideas into a plan.
