PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
This week our Titans celebrated our Smart, Happy, and Connected school through peace, love, and a culture of kindness. I am proud of the ways that our students, parents, teachers, and staff always rise up to embrace and support each other. Our welcoming and inclusive culture are what makes our school a unique learning environment.
I received many positive accolades on our Student Council's tribute to the 17 lost in Parkland. Thank you to all who took the time to let me know that you supported our students' poignant and beautiful remembrance. Our 1,000 Butterfly Tribute to peace, love, and kindness will remain on display until Spring Break. I invite our families to walk back to the fishbowl on International Night to read our students "17 acts of kindness" and to see our World Language mural. Our students' message of kindness matters is universal.
On Thursday, we welcomed the rising 6th-grade parents to our school. Our 6th-grade Pointe Team assured parents that not only had they survived middle school but that they are thriving! The Pointe Team shared stories about their lockers, new friends, AVID, the instruments they play, favorite teachers, and World Language experiences. A special thanks to Mrs. Dease, Dr. Bearden, Ms. Ward, Mr. Harigree, Mrs.Toner, Mrs. Cowles, Mrs. Rodriguez, and the Pointe Team for being a part of our elementary school transition.
Next Thursday, on March 22nd from 6-8 pm is International Night at Elkins Pointe. This event is a MUST! International Night is where our school culture comes alive with the sight, sounds, entertainment...and the food! Bring the whole family and your neighbors to join us for a night of festivities. Please sign up to make your favorite international dish, and bring some money to buy tickets so you can sample eatables from around the world!
Next week is also Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week and the Scholastic Book Fair. Please join our PTSA in honoring our teachers and staff for the hard and valuable work they put into our students. You can show your gratitude by helping out the PTSA or honor them in something personal to your family or child. Please support our school goal of literacy by encouraging your child to purchase a book at the Book Fair in the Media Center.
Remember that tomorrow, on Saturday, March 17th is the Titan Advantage Georgia Milestones workshop from 8 am to 12 pm. Titans, please join by taking advantage of all the amazing cultural and learning events happening at Elkins Pointe!
I'm looking forward to seeing all my Titan families on March 22nd at International Night!

Congrats to Chorus!
Congrats to both Chorus groups on their Superior (the highest possible rating) from every judge in both performance and sight reading!
"It was an honor to be a part of this group’s performance. I was so impressed with their professionalism and focus from the warm-up room, through their prepared concert, and concluding in the sight-reading room. They had several distractions thrown their way and they truly were able to “RISE UP” above all it to create a beautiful experience. Bravo to Mr. Baugh and his amazing groups!" ~Kate Burkhart

FUNDED BY YOUR PTSA: Australian Didgeridoo Down Under Show
Elkins Pointe PTSA was excited this year to sponsor the Australian Didgeridoo Down Under Show to our school. On Friday, February 23, 2018, all the 6th grade students participated in the Australian Didgeridoo Down Under Show during normal school hours.
Didgeridoo Down Under (DDU) is an Australia-themed show that combines music, culture, art, science, literacy development, comedy, character building, anti-bullying, motivational speaking and audience participation. The didgeridoo is a musical instrument, usually a hollow tree trunk that has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1,500 years. DDU is much more than music – it is an interactive, educational, and motivational experience. This is also a true cross-curricular program that supports state and national educational standards (www.didgedownunder.com).
Your student’s cost: $0*
*This is funded by your EPMS PTSA (elkinspointe.my-pta.org)
