Information on Curbside Pick-up/Drop-off for Items - REVISED
Dear, Washington Parents-
Thank you so much for your commitment to your children's education during this time of e-learning. We truly appreciate your support in partnering with us. We want to keep the learning happening until the very last day of instruction, which will now be Friday, May 29th. The first three days of June will be non-attendance days for students and will be used for staff inservice to plan for next year.
Teachers are beginning the process of packing up their rooms. They will be placing each student's supplies and belongings in a bag, so the items can be returned to you. Teachers will try their best to include gym shoes and other clothing, but please understand that there may be challenges to tracking those items down if they are not currently in the classroom.
If your child has medication that is kept in the school health office, please mention that when you drive up for your pick-up, and our staff will get the medication to you.
We have arranged a schedule to offer an opportunity for you to pick up your child’s belongings. The schedule below includes a specific timeframe to arrive at Washington and is arranged alphabetically by last name. You will have the opportunity to come either Wednesday or Thursday to pick up the belongings. Please come during your assigned time slot. To help keep the line moving, we kindly ask that you have your child’s last name on a piece of paper in the car window. This will allow us to locate your child’s belongings more quickly. If possible, please unlatch your trunk and we will place the items in there for you. To help keep everyone safe, we have developed some simple guidelines. These can be found below, along with the schedule.
In addition to this opportunity to pick up your child’s belongings, we would also like to use this time to collect any library books, classroom books, band/orchestra instruments or other items that belong to the school. You are welcome to put those items in a bag to allow for an easy drop off.
We understand that these circumstances are less than ideal, but please be assured that we will do our best to collect your child’s belongings and get them to you.
Pick-up/Drop-off Guidelines
- Arrive from the west, as if you were doing flow-zone drop-off. Enter the west entrance of the main parking lot (usually an exit-only). Drive up along the front curb of the building.
-Stay in line and please wait until it’s safe to pull forward.
-Please stay in your car.
- Please have a sign in your window with your child's/children's last name and teacher(s) name
-If possible, unlatch your trunk.
-Your child’s belongings will be placed in your trunk, or handed to you.
-Helpers will be wearing masks and gloves.
-Hand any items that need to be turned in to a staff member.
For Walk-up Pick-up/Drop-off
- We highly encourage you to use the car line in order to best maintain social distancing, but if you live very close to school, you may walk.
- Walkers come to Door 10 (BASP door) on the east side of the building (NOT the car line). Please wear a mask/face covering.
- Do not congregate at the door. If someone is already there for pick-up, please remain on the sidewalk/grass along President until it is your turn.
- Please be patient. Most of our staff helpers will be working the car line; we will have one staff member at door 10.
NO STUDENTS OR PARENTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE SCHOOL DURING THIS PROCESS.

Information on Elementary Third Trimester Report Cards
Dear Washington Parents,
Thank you for your support and partnership during E-Learning. On Wednesday, June 3, your child’s teacher will email a progress report that will replace the regular report card during this unprecedented time. The information below has been available on the district website, but we wanted to be sure everyone has seen it.
For elementary E-Learning, District 200 narrowed the list of skills and standards typically taught during the third trimester to those most essential to students’ long-term success. Students in the elementary grades will receive a grade of “Progressing” or “Incomplete” for each of the Trimester 3 Essential Skills. Teachers, however, continued to incorporate numerous other standards into their lessons and student activities for continuity of learning.
A grade of “Progressing” indicates that a child engaged regularly in E-Learning and was able to demonstrate his or her learning. “Progressing” does not indicate mastery. Complete mastery of standards will be more formally assessed when school resumes, and students who need more time will be provided the opportunity to attain mastery. The district is in the process of planning learning recovery programs for students who receive an “Incomplete.”
District grading practices continue to align to state guidance. We understand that students’ access to resources that support remote learning vary and current circumstances may be challenging for some of our learners. District 200’s E-Learning grading policy is based upon the principle of no educational harm to any student, which aligns to current state guidelines.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Craig

Food Insecurity Crisis Fund
In District 200, 28% of students come from low-income households. Each day, 3,310 students receive a free or reduced lunch. While the District has done an incredible job of meeting the food needs of families during the school week during this pandemic, many parents are struggling to feed their children in the evenings and on weekends.
Your donation today will allow District 200 social workers to connect local families with supportive resources to meet nutritional needs.
You can donate here: Food Insecurity Crisis Fund.
