Access to COVID-19 Testing

Visit the COVID-19 Testing and Reporting page of our website to learn more about how to report a positive COVID-19 test, and how to obtain tests either through our schools or in the community. We will be providing families with at-home COVID-19 test kits for their children each month to use if they are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.

  • Test kits are being distributed for families to use at-home if their student has COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Testing is voluntary, families are not required to test for COVID-19.
  • The Department of Health requires schools to provide a variety of ways to ensure that COVID-19 testing is available in the school community. Providing each family with tests is one recommended way.
  • The at-home tests are provided through a grant.
  • Reporting a Positive COVID-19 case may be done via Reporting a positive case helps us monitor any outbreaks, and communicate school by school results to our community as required by the Department of Health.

School Lunch Info!

Food & Nutrition Services would like to remind you that we offer both Breakfast and Lunch daily at all the North Kitsap schools.

All other students must pay for their meals starting on the first day of school (August 31st). Grading Policies!

If your child has been out of school and you are not sure how to keep up their grades, you are welcomed to contact their teacher directly. We all have a lot of grace and understanding for the current situation and want to help your child stay successful.

Each Department at KMS has a slightly different policy on grading. However, you can count on some key consistent practices from all of your child’s teachers:

  • A failing grade should not be a surprise to a parent/guardian. Regular dialogue between the teacher and family is essential; parents are encouraged to reach out if you have not heard from your child’s teacher.
  • We do not believe in zeros for missing assignments. Instead, teachers will place a 50% grade, or not count the work toward the final grade. There are a few exceptions for this if the assignment has little to no impact on the final grade and for formal assessments.
  • Students should always have an opportunity to turn in late work, complete an alternative assignment, or demonstrate a standard prior to the quarter end in place of a missing assignment. (Teacher discretion for how to show standard).
  • Skyward should be updated regularly and at a minimum at least every two weeks.

Reporting Safety Concerns

Our district is now using Vector Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to us in five different ways:

You can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism, threats of violence, or any safety issue you're concerned about through Vector Alert. When you submit a tip, be sure to use our district’s identification code: 2120 in your communication. Every tip Vector Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. Tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer.

Please remember to email us or leave a voicemail if your child will be missing school.
