COMING SOON TO YOUR STUDENT ---- BUILD YOUR FUTURE BOOKLET
Build Your Future Booklet
The vision of Utica Community Schools is to empower our students to transform their lives and their futures. We do this by providing students with the quality options that are designed around their interests and career goals. Central to these options is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
Your 8th – 12th grade student will shortly come home with the book Build Your Future, The Complete Guide to A Skilled Trades Career. This book was provided through a State of Michigan legislative funding appropriation and with the help of the Skilled to Build Michigan Foundation.
This guidebook examines the 10 biggest myths surrounding the trades as well as outlines earning potential and provides information on what careers in these trades might look like. Please take the time to sit down with your student and review this guidebook, talk about the opportunity in skilled trades, and the value of CTE.
Given the wide range of our programs, we encourage students to consider coursework that will make them stand out on their college or job applications. CTE is one of those key areas as it benefits every career field.
If you have questions about CTE courses available through Utica Community Schools, please reach out to your child’s guidance counselor.
