Can you help us? The Edendale Primary Give-A-Little page: https://givealittle.co.nz/l/edendale-colour-run
This fundraiser is to help with the literacy programme we are running this year labelled 'structured literacy' and is currently running across years 1-6.
Gates in the morning and afternoon: you are now welcome to come onto the site [masks must be worn] from 8:30am to drop your child/ren off. A reminder that the gates close at 8:50am. The gate will also be open at around 2:55pm for pickups and will close when the last children leave at around 3:10pm. Caregivers/parents are currently not permitted in the classroom spaces and we'd ask that if you are wanting to meet a teacher that this is pre-arranged as staff have many hui commitments before and after school. We thank you for your support with this and our transition back to mornings and afternoons.
Leadership Team message from Jonathan R
Kia ora koutou,
Wow, who can believe we are at wiki whā [four] of the second term 2022 and it is nearly the end of Haratua [May]. As you will see by our Monday, Wednesday and Friday COVID updates we are seeing a slight spike in the numbers since returning to school and the experts suggest that this will continue into the colder months sitting alongside the flu. Last weekend I read the following Tweet thread and think you may find it helpful https://twitter.com/drjinrussell/status/1527921123832528896?s=21&t=GUfbCof7JcEMKUy-BumAKw This site is also worth looking at in terms of how it relates to the above posting: https://covid19.govt.nz/news-and-data/covid-19-vaccination-rates-around-new-zealand/
We [with the support of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health] continue to highly encourage children and staff to wear masks while inside [all the time] and outside when physical distancing isn't achievable. We have HEPA air purification in every classroom, along with fans and air conditioners that can be used for air circulation. When staff and children aren't in their classrooms we try to vent the rooms to enable complete air transfer. Sick children should not come to school.
Thank you for all your support over the last few weeks in keeping us informed of your personal circumstances [covid@edendale.school.nz or office@edendale.school.nz]. Wishing you a restful upcoming weekend and hope that you can all take some time over the first long weekend to spend time with whānau.
Stay well, stay safe, and be kind.
Ngā mihi

Colour Run Week: Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th June
We are so excited about Colour Run week which gets under way in just over a week’s time.
It’s a race of two halves…
First, a race for sponsorship. Funds that are raised are going towards resources for the Structured Literacy programme, and you can find out more about it by checking out this week’s Colour Run update (sent out yesterday).
https://givealittle.co.nz/l/edendale-colour-run
Check out how your teams are doing?
At the time of ‘going to press’ team Aroha was out in front, with Mahi Tahi and Akoranga neck and neck for second spot. Have you donated yet? There’s plenty of time to rope in friends and whanau and get those Give a Little pages singing with your shout outs.
Team / Rōpū Kaiako / Teachers
Aroha (Year 1-3) Ariel, Callum, Fabienne, Philippa, Rosie
Atawhai (Year 1-3) Adrienne, Heike, Latha, Yashika
Akoranga (Year 1-3) Aine, Grace D, Hayley, Suzie
Mahitahi (Year 4-5) Christopher, Grace R, Ingrid & Liese, Lily, Mark, Tahi
Tuakana (Year 5-6) Braedon, Katrina, Melody, Nik, Shamin, Leah [Tracy]
Next is the fun part – the race to get colourful! We’ll let you know who is running when, but races will be at the end of the school day, and parents are invited to come a little early and watch your kids run their race and then get covered in colour. Keep an eye on the weekly updates for more details.
You might have noticed that we were kindly gifted the courier costs for our hot cross buns, and we are looking for another generous sponsor to contribute towards the cost of the ‘colour’. If you run a business and would like a shameless plug, or if you just want to contribute we would love to cover the $240 cost of the colour with one or more sponsors out there. If you would like to help, please contact us at pta@edendale.school.nz.
Next Meeting
We were delighted to see some new faces at this month’s PTA meeting, and continue to welcome anyone who wants to join in, or just wants to know more. We hold our next PTA meeting via Zoom on Thursday 16th June at 7:00pm. Put it in your calendar and email pta@edendale.school.nz for details.
Stay safe everyone,
