Pi Day

We will be celebrating Super Pi Day!

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. As an irrational and transcendental number, it will continue infinitely without repetition or pattern. While only a handful of digits are needed for typical calculations, Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorize, and to computationally calculate more and more digits.

This year, Pi Day is Super Pi Day! For the first time in a century, Pi Day will include on the first five digits of Pi — 3/14/15.

We are going to have "Pi" activities throughout our day! Don't worry though, no math :)

Please pack $3 (cash) if you want your child to participate in the Pi Lunch (Pizza). Please pack a water bottle!

Afternoon Snack: Chocolate "Pi's"

We will hit the "kitchen" in the afternoon to make our "Pi's". The children will have a variety of foods too choose from to make their very own "Pi".
