Weekly Update for Meadows
8/26/22
Happy Friday Ram Fam!
As August comes to a close, we wanted to celebrate some of the great success we’ve had so far.
All students completed the first of three rounds of the NWEA MAP reading and math assessments as an initial benchmark so we can measure student data. Teachers are analyzing that data to drive their instructional strategies.
Students are actively learning in classes. When visiting classes here are just a few things we see…
Our kids are collaborating with one another to solve math problems
Building sustainable tree houses in project design
They are listening, speaking, and learning Spanish and American Sign Language
They are analyzing articles about herd mentality, the bystander effect, and reading both fiction and nonfiction texts
Students making travel brochures in humanities to learn about the world around them
Fall sports teams were finalized and competitions begin the first full week of September and clubs like Student Government, Odyssey of the Mind, and Chess Club met allowing students to get involved and invested at school outside of the classroom.
We have some big goals for student learning and know we have a lot of work to do as a community to support our students. Thank you, as always, for being an active and supportive member of our community by supporting your student’s love of learning at home as well.
All the best,
Katy Clark & Amber Sherman
3rd Ave & Glendale HAWK
2 weeks ago the High Intensity Activated CrossWalK (HAWK) signal activated at 3rd Avenue and Glendale. Our community is looking for volunteers to support the crosswalk to ensure students are using it properly. Here is the link to sign-up and below is a visual you can show your students and share with your neighbors as well.
HAWK Light Volunteers
Meadows could use a few volunteers to help with the Glendale & 3rd Avenue Crosswalk on a temporary basis. The current Hawk Light is up and running, but some parents have asked for additional support to guide/inform children about how this type of crossing area works. Please review the available slots and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!
Vacancies
We need your help! We have three urgent vacancies that need to be filled including a 5th/6th grade social studies position, lunch duty aides (x2), and a night lead custodian. This community is amazing and we need to tap into your networking power. Please spread the word and ask interested applicants to apply online and/or contact our office for more information
